Bird Seeds:
- The Bluejays look to rebound from a difficult loss to DePaul, while Seton Hall has posted three consecutive wins.
- In the first meeting between the Pirates and Bluejays, Seton Hall raced out to a 23-point edge early in the second quarter only to watch Creighton pull even early in the fourth quarter.
- Seton Hall enters play on Friday in a tie for second place in the BIG EAST, while the Bluejays come into the matchup deadlocked with Georgetown for 7th.
- To extend Creighton's streak of eight consecutive postseason appearances, the Bluejays will likely need to sweep both Seton Hall and St. John's.
Facing off twice in the past two seasons, the Bluejays swept Seton Hall in 2013-14 and split two games last season. Earlier this season the Pirates took down Creighton in Omaha, 86-82.
Creighton is 2-0 against the Pirates in New Jersey. Last season Creighton posted the only BIG EAST win over Seton Hall on its home floor last season, 81-73 on Feb. 8.

Scouting Seton Hall (20-7, 10-6 BIG EAST)
After losing three members of their starting unit from last season, many thought the Pirates would take a step back during 2015-16. Nothing has been further from the truth as Seton Hall found players to plug in and are pushing to claim the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament this weekend.
The Pirates are led by the holdover from last season in Tabitha Richardson-Smith, 19.7 ppg. In the first meeting between the Pirates and the Bluejays Richardson-Smith delivered 27 points.
Seton Hall's starting five is formidable, averaging a combined 60.9 ppg as a unit. That number is 83.4% of the Pirates scoring average.
Keys to the Game w/Seton Hall
- Transition defense: Seton Hall thrives when the Pirates can push the basketball. The Pirates average 8.3 steals per game and it will be critical for the Bluejays to communicate.
- Rebound: In the first matchup the Bluejays used a small lineup to claw back into the game, but were still able to rebound with Seton Hall. The Bluejays must do that once more.
- Execute on Offense: The Bluejays have struggled to execute on the offensive end consistently this season. Seton Hall is one of the most potent offensive units in the BIG EAST.
There are more than a few storylines for Friday's battle between Creighton and Seton Hall. The most pressing one this season is seeding in the BIG EAST Tournament.
Seton Hall is in a three-way tie for second-place entering Friday with St. John's (10-6) and Villanova (10-6). Creighton, meanwhile, is knotted with Georgetown at 7-9.
The Bluejays have the opportunity to climb as high as fifth with two victories this season or fall as far eighth with other outcomes.
The Pirates could finish as high as the second seed, or could fall as far as the sixth seed.
Revenge Cuts Both Ways
Both teams may enter Friday with payback on their minds.
Creighton would like to provide a better showing than the Bluejays put forth against Seton Hall earlier this season.
The Pirates, meanwhile, want to avenge the only home loss suffered last season. Creighton was the only school to tarnish the Pirates 17-1 home record in 2014-15.
Faber Looking to Find Her Swashbuckling Ways
Freshman Audrey Faber has struggled during the second half of the BIG EAST season, her scoring has fallen to 9.1 ppg over the last seven contests.
Faber's best contest of the year, however, came against Seton Hall on Dec. 31. Faber closed the battle with the Pirates with 29 points.
Works Shines Against Marquette
Junior Lauren Works was as hot as she ever against the Golden Eagles on Feb. 19. The native of Lincoln, Neb. closed the contest with 23 points, including six treys. Both the total points and splashes from long range set career highs for Works.
