Baseball Opens Home Schedule with Three-Game Set Agaisnt UAB

Omaha, Neb. -- The Creighton Baseball team opens its 2016 home schedule this weekend with a three-game series against UAB.

Creighton vs. UAB Series
The Bluejays and Blazers will meet for the first time this weekend.
Scouting the Blazers (2016: 6-6, 0-0 Conference USA)
UAB opened the season dropping a series at home to Arkansas State. The following weekend the Blazers took two of three from Ohio.
The Blazers took three of their last four games, including two of three from
Kennesaw State.
UAB has played just two of its 12 games on the road, going 0-2 in those contests.
As a team UAB enters the weekend hitting .233. Although the team hasn't had great success, Griffin Gum (.316) and Evan Peterson (.294) have a combined 16 RBI and 14 runs scored.
On the mound UAB has a 3.31 ERA, led by a 1.15 ERA from Adam Lamar (2-0). Lamar, however, is currently not slated to start against the Bluejays.
The Servais Way Begins in the Pen
Head coach Ed Servais has long been known for focus on defense and the bullpen. The 2016 Bluejays are proving off to a strong start in the pen. A combined 1q arms have seen action for the Bluejays in the opening    10 games.
The group have thrown a combined 45.2 innings, holding the opposition to just nine earned runs. The resulting is 1.77 ERA.
