Red Storm use two big innings to take pair of games
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton softball team dropped a pair of games to St. John's on Saturday afternoon at the Creighton Sports Complex. The Red Storm defeated the Bluejays 10-1 in five innings during game one before picking up an 11-7 victory in the second contest.

The Red Storm scored eight runs on only three hits during the second inning of the first game to take an early 9-0 lead. Gretchen Bowie's three-run home run to center field capped the inning.
The Bluejays scored one in the bottom of the second frame after both Anna O'Gorman and Sam Crowley walked and Allie Reinhart singled. Reinhart's nine-pitch battle with St. John's starter Tori Free resulted in a single to center to drive in O'Gorman for the first Creighton run.
Michal Hylton came on in relief for the Bluejays in the third and recorded the first one-two-three inning of the game. Hylton allowed back-to-back doubles in the fourth inning as St. John's scored its 10th run of the game, but the sophomore also retired the Red Storm in order in the fifth.

The senior center fielder lined the ball to right field where the St. John's outfielder mishandled it, allowing both O'Gorman and Crowley to cross home plate and put Reinhart at second base.
The Bluejays took their first lead with back-to-back RBI singles in the second frame. Coffiel singled over the second baseman's head to drive in Jen Daro and Dellinger singled into right field and drove in Aujanae McCoy.
