Cross Country Tunes Up For BIG EAST Championship in Peoria

Howard and Hotalling lead CU at the Ideal Rentals Bradley Pink Classic
MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTS
PEORIA, Ill. – The Creighton's men's and women's cross country teams raced at the Ideal Rentals Bradley Pink Classic on  Friday in Peoria in the final tune-up prior to the BIG EAST Championships.
The Bluejay women's team finished in 36th place out of 39 with a team score of 985. The Iowa State women finished in first place with a team score of 54, defeating South Dakota who had a team score of 144 to take second. BIG EAST rivals Butler, Marquette and Xavier finished in seventh, ninth and 26th, while Nebraska finished in 35th.
The first Creighton finisher was freshman Danielle Hotalling who finished in 92nd with a time of 22:08.4 to lead CU for the fourth time in as many meets. Following Hotalling was junior Caroline Pass who finished in 198th place and ran a time of 23:15.6. Next was Marguerite Hendrickson who ran a time of 23:47.9 which earned her a 225th place finish. Erin Smith finished in 229th place, running a time of 23:51.9. Sophomore Amy Leasure clocked a time of 24:19.0, good for 241st place. Next up was sophomore Katie Fukushima who finished in 248th and had a time of 24:27.3. Erica Cradeur finished in 249th place and ran a time of 24:28.2. Haley Fye ran a time of 25:21.6, to come in 285th.
Iowa State's Callie Logue won the women's race with a 6K time of 20:32.6, beating Toledo's Athena Welsh by four seconds and the field of 298 overall competitors.
The CU men's team finished in 32nd out of 33 teams and had a total score of 930. Host Bradley took won the meet with a score of 76 while Grand Valley State was runner-up with a team score of 97. Several BIG EAST teams also raced at the meet. Marquette finished in ninth with a score of 373, Xavier finished in 17th with a score of 492, DePaul finished in 24th with a score of 600, and Butler finished in 29th with a score of 802. Nebraska finished in 22nd with a score 587.
Leading the way for the Bluejay men was junior Chase Howard who finished in 149th place and ran a time of 26:25.6. In 157th place was sophomore Max Wehrle with a time of 26:29.3. After Wehrle was 195th place freshman Aidan King in a time of 26:58.3. Next was Nick Monkemeyer in 209th place who had a time of 27:11.2. Boston Small was after Monkemeyer in 220th with a time of 27:47.7. Next was junior Nate Fedel in 223rd who ran a time of 27:52.9. Jackson Stamper finished in 231st place and had a time of 28:20.4. Freshman Bryce Shirley ran a time of 28:38.8, placing 267th.
Grand Valley State teammates Zach Panning (24:06.7) and Enael Woledmichael (24:29.7) topped the 8K field of 273 men's entrants.
The next race for both Creighton's men and women's teams is the BIG EAST Championship in Indianapolis, Ind. on October 27th.
