Mease and Brown Advance To Round of 32 Doubles With Victory on Thursday At ITA Central Regional

The Bluejays duo claimed an 8-4 win during the round of 64
TULSA, Okla. -- Mac Mease and Stratton Brown paired up for a first round doubles victory on Thursday afternoon at the ITA Central Regional, hosted by the University of Tulsa. Overall, the Creighton men's tennis team finished the day 4-3.Â
Mease and Brown advanced to Friday's round of 32 with an 8-4 win against Iowa's Joe Tyler and Nikita Snezhko.Â
Brown, Mease and Nick Campbell also competed during single action on Thursday. Campbell and Brown each played three sets, but all three men fell during the first round.
Campbell dropped his opening set against Nebraska-Omaha's Davis Lawley, 7-5, but evened the match with a 6-4 win during the second frame. Lawley claimed the deciding set by a score of 6-3.
Brown fell during the first set of his match, 6-2, before earning a 6-1 win during the second. Wichita State's Eddie Stoica outlasted Brown with a 6-3 decision in the third and final set..Â
Mease fell in straight-sets against Marino Alpeza from Minnesota.
Despite each losing during their first matches, all three Bluejays battled back for consolation victories on Thursday night.Â
Brown earned a three-set win, while Mease and Campbell each won during straight-sets.
Brown fell 6-3 in the opening frame before winning 6-2 in the second and 10-6 during a third-set tiebreaker.
Mease earned a 6-4, 6-0 victory, while Campbell won 6-3, 6-2.
Brown and Mease will face Oklahoma State's seeded pair of Brady Draheim and Mathieu Scaglia on Friday morning.Â
