Men's Soccer Claims 14th Position In United Soccer Coaches Poll

Bluejays finished last week 2-0-0 and clinched the BIG EAST regular-season crown
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's soccer team claimed the #14 position in this week's United Soccer Coaches Poll, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The Bluejays moved up five spots from last week's ranking after a 2-0-0 showing during two league matches over the past seven days. Creighton improved to 11-3-2 overall and clinched the BIG EAST regular-season title with victories against Marquette and DePaul last week.
Sven Koenig paces the team and leads the BIG EAST with nine goals, while Joel Rydstrand owns a Bluejay-best five assists.
Goalkeeper Paul Kruse has played each minute for Creighton and claims a 0.542 goals against average, which is the best mark in the BIG EAST and ranks ninth nationally.
The Bluejays are the lone BIG EAST representative in this week's poll. Georgetown is listed with teams receiving votes (20).
Wake Forest continued to lead the poll with 21 of 28 possible first-place votes, while Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina and Saint Mary's rounded out the top five.
The Bluejays also checked in at No. 26 in this week's official NCAA RPI.Â
Creighton returns to the pitch on Wednesday night for its regular-season finale and Senior Night against Georgetown. Kickoff between the Bluejays and Hoyas on Halloween night is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Morrison Stadium.
