Women's Soccer Posts 3-1 Exhibition Win at Northern Illinois

DeKalb, Ill. -- Powered by goals from junior Taryn Jakubowski (penalty kick), senior Kaira Houser (game-winner) and sophomore Keelie Fothergill, the Creighton women's soccer team collected a 3-1 win over Northern Illinois in the Bluejays second exhibition match of 2018.
Jakubowski give Creighton an early lead in the fifth minute as she turned a Husky penalty into a goal by converting the PK with at the 4:13 mark.
Northern Illinois answered at 12:01 as Jennie Nailor scored an unassisted goal from 15-yards out.
Just over 14 minutes later Houser put the Bluejays up for good as she sent a pass from sophomore Juelle Love across the net into the lower left corner.
Early in the second half the Bluejays got some insurance as Fothergill powered a shot through goalkeeper Julia Lentz' hands for an unassisted tally in the 57th minute.
Creighton out shot NIU 16-11, while Bluejay goalkeeper Katie Sullivan finished with four saves.
Creighton concludes exhibition action on Thursday, Aug. 16 as the Bluejays host Missouri Western State at 7:00 pm.
