Creighton scored twice during the second half
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Powered by two second-half goals, the Creighton men's soccer team defeated Ohio State 2-0 on Wednesday night during an exhibition match at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
Wednesday's victory marked the Bluejays' second road victory during the preseason, as Creighton claimed a 2-1 win on Saturday night at Caniglia Field against Nebraska-Omaha.
The Bluejays broke into the scoring column during the 65th minute. Junior Luke Haakenson received a pass from Kuba Polat before sneaking the ball past the Buckeye goalkeeper to give Creighton a 1-0 advantage.
During the 75th minute, senior forward Anthony Macchione found the back of the net to extend the Bluejays' lead to two goals. Fellow senior Sven Koenig sent in a pass from the right flank before Macchione converted from about five yards out.
Creighton ended the match with an 11-3 edge in shots, and 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Bluejays wrap up their exhibition slate with a match at home against Northern Illinois on Saturday at 7 p.m.
