SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Creighton women's golf team placed 13th at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial, which wrapped up on Tuesday at Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield, Mo.
Fifteen teams and 98 competitors played in the event, which was held on a par 71 course that measured 6,001 yards.
For the second straight week, Katie Allen was CU's top performer. The freshman from Phoenix, Ariz., followed up an opening round 82 with back-to-back 75s to tie for 42nd place.
After an opening round 85, senior Sydney Gillespie improved to a second-round 75 and a final round 78. She tied for 58th place with a 238 total.
Sophomore Margaret Hickey started with an 82 before loops of 80 and 77 to tie for 63rd place.
Rounding out the Bluejay contingent were freshman Katie Wilson (84-87-83=254) in 92nd place and senior Caroline Lake (94-88-87=269) in 97th place.
Competing as an individual but not factoring into CU's team score was sophomore Amelia Lee. Lee tied for 71st place after circuits of 79, 81 and 81.
Memphis won the event with a three-round total of 860, taking the team title by 13 shots over UTEP. Memphis senior Sydney Colwill and Murray State senior Linette Holmslykke tied for medalist honors with a one-under total of 212.
The Bluejays return to the course next Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 17-18) at the Loyola Fall Invitational in Flossmoor, Ill.
