Creighton Women's Soccer in Critical Match at Seton Hall on Thursday

Omaha, Neb.-- Facing a critical stretch of BIG EAST play, the Creighton Women's Soccer team hits the road for a match with Seton Hall at 5:00 pm on Thursday, Oct. 24. Creighton comes into the match in eighth place in the BIG EAST, needing to gain two spots to make the BIG EAST tournament.

Scouting Creighton (7-6-2, 1-3-2 BE)
After an impressive 2-2 draw with then #10 Georgetown on Oct. 13th, the Bluejays returned home for a critical meeting with Providence. Creighton jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the opening frame, before falling to the Friar 2-1 last Saturday.
The Bluejays are facing a must win week in New Jersey/New York as Creighton faces Seton Hall on Thursday and St. John's on Sunday.
Freshman Skylar Heinrich delivered a late first half goal before Providence found the back of the net twice in the early parts of the second half to top Creighton 2-1. Heinrich's goal was her ninth inside Morrison Stadium this season.
Over the course of the season Heinrich leads the squad with an impressive 10 goals, senior Taryn Jakubowski is second on the squad with three goals and two assists, while sophomore Ansley Atkinson has contributed a pair of goals and five assists.
Defensively Creighton has split time in the net between redshirt freshman Keelan Terrell (0-2-1) and sophomore Katie Sullivan (1-1-1) in conference play. Terrell saw action in the recent contest with Providence (Oct. 19).
Scouting Seton Hall (1-11-1, 0-6-0 BE)
Under the direction of new head coach Ciara Crinion, Seton Hall has struggled to find the back of the net. The Pirates come into the meeting with the Bluejays on a eight match losing streak and an 0-6-0 mark in BIG EAST play.
Offensively the Pirates are led by junior Laura Hooper with two of the teams five goals on the year. A trio of Pirates have also contributed a goal each. Freshman Harpa Johannsdottir has commanded the net for Seton Hall collecting 22 saves in just over 1,000 minutes in goal.

The Bluejays and Pirates have faced off six times, with Creighton being victories in two of the three meeting at Seton Hall. Last season, Seton Hall jumped out in front early before the Bluejays found the back of the net twice late in the first half and hung on for a 2-1 victory. The last time the teams met in South Orange, Seton Hall touched the back of the net with under four minutes remaining equaling the score at 1-1 to force a draw.

Entering play on Thursday, the Bluejays sit in eighth place with five points. Just four points seperate the conference leader Georgetown (14 points) from a four-team tie for fourth place at 10 points (Villanova, Providence, DePaul and Marquette.
This week ahead presents itself as must wins for the Bluejays as Creighton needs to leap at least two teams to reach the BIG EAST Championship (only the top six squads qualify).
Creighton's final match of the season will be on Oct. 31st at Morrison Stadium against Villanova.
Heinrich Reaching for Record Numbers
