- Creighton (4-2) wraps up play in the 19th Annual Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational on Friday, Nov. 29 when it faces off against No. 12 Texas Tech (5-1) in the consolation game at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
The game will tip at 9:30 p.m. CST and be televised by FS1 (Jeff Levering, Casey Jacobsen). It will also be broadcast on KOZN 1620 AM (John Bishop, Tyler Clement) in Omaha.
- Creighton is 2-1 all-time against Texas Tech, though the programs have not met since a 51-45 Bluejay victory in Omaha. The teams have met just once on a neutral floor, a 63-61 Creighton triumph in an NCAA Tournament consolation round contest in Manhattan, Kan., that saw Pete McManamon lead CU with 18 points, including a game-winning 20 footer with eight seconds left. Paul Silas added 12 points and 13 rebounds for CU. Texas Tech was led in that game by Del Ray Mounts, who scored 24 points.
Greg McDermott is 1-3 in his career against Texas Tech, with all four meetings taking place with McDermott coached at Iowa State. Two of the games were decided by exactly two points, including ISU's 78-76 victory at Hilton Coliseum on March 7, 2009.
- Both Creighton and Texas Tech have a connection on the opposing bench.
Creighton volunteer assistant Ty Nurse played at Texas Tech from 2011-13. He scored 339 points in 59 games for the Red Raiders.
Texas Tech Chief of Staff Tim MacAllister served as Creighton's video coordinator from 2015-18 before joining the Red Raiders last fall.
- Creighton suffered its first loss in Las Vegas since 1987 last night, snapping a six-game win streak in Sin City that included titles in the Las Vegas Classic (2008) and Las Vegas Invitational (2012), both at Orleans Arena, in addition to the 2015 MGM Grand Men Who Speak Up Main Event championship at MGM Grand.
The 1987 loss came to No. 15 UNLV, and also was by 31 points (90-59).
- Creighton has made at least one three-pointer in 857 straight games.
Creighton has made at least one three-pointer before halftime in 228 straight games.
Marcus Zegarowski has made a three-pointer in each of the last 15 games.
One streak that did not survive on Thursday was Creighton's 76-game streak of five or more three-pointers made, which dated back to March 8, 2017. The streak was the nation's fourth-longest before CU's 4-for-23 marksmanship vs. SDSU.
- Thursday's 83-52 setback was its largest margin of defeat since suffering a 95-61 loss at Western Kentucky on Dec. 19, 2001. That Creighton team would regroup to win the Missouri Valley Conference, the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, and win a First Round game over No. 15 Florida in the NCAA Tournament.
- Creighton freshman Shereef Mitchell had a season-high 10 points in Thursday's game vs. San Diego State, making 3-of-4 shots and 4-of-4 free throws. Mitchell is the seventh different Creighton player to score in double-figures this season, and 11th man on the roster with a double-figure contest as a collegian.
- It's been more than 10 years since Creighton has last lost consecutive games in the month of November, something the Bluejays will look to avoid on Friday vs. Texas Tech.
The last time it happened was an 0-3 showing at the Old Spice Classic in Orlando, Fla., which happened the same week that Tiger Woods had his infamous car crash into a fire hydrant (on Nov. 27, 2009) at the end of his driveway in nearby Windermere.
- Creighton enters Friday's game vs. No. 12 Texas Tech with a 33-145 all-time record against ranked teams.
Friday will mark Creighton's first game this year against a ranked opponent.
Creighton is 10-13 since the start of the 2016-17 season against ranked teams.
Creighton is 1-6 all-time against teams ranked exactly 12th, with the win coming on CU's most recent such contest on Jan. 11, 2017 vs. Butler.
Greg McDermott is 15-30 as Creighton coach against top-25 foes, more than twice as many top-25 wins as any other coach in program history. Prior to McDermott's arrival, Creighton was 18-115 all-time against top-25 foes.
Creighton is 7-28 all-time on neutral floors against top-25 teams, including a 2-6 mark under McDermott.
Creighton has beaten a top-25 team in each of the previous six seasons, including wins last year vs. No. 16 Clemson and at No. 10 Marquette. Creighton has also beaten multiple ranked teams each of the previous five seasons.
- Creighton is 5-18 all-time against teams coming off a trip to the Final Four, including a 2-1 record versus teams that were the national runner-up. Both victories came over Indiana State in 1979-80.

- Creighton doesn't lose many games by 20 or more points, as it did on Thursday vs. San Diego State. However, each of the last 11 times it has happened, Creighton has answered with a victory in its next game. Two of CU's last three losses by 20+ points were followed with a win over a ranked team.
