Series History: Creighton leads Evansville, 45-26
Former Missouri Valley Rivals,Creighton and Evansville renew their battles this weekend. The Bluejays own a 45-26 edge in the overall series. Under Ed Servais Creighton is 25-10 against Evansville, including a three-game sweep last season. Creighton has won four straight versus the Aces and five of the last six.
Battling the Midwest Snow
Although the Bluejays are off to a hot start, the Midwest weather is doing its part to cool things down. Intense cold and sitting snow in Omaha have forced the Bluejays to cancel six of their last eight games and seven games already during the 2019 season.
In addition Servais is exploring exploring alternative sites for the weekend series scheduled in Omaha on March 22-24 with Maryland.
Scouting the Bluejays:Â (2019: 7-3, 0-0 BIG EAST)
The Creighton offense has carried the load for the Bluejays early this season. Creighton has scored 90 runs in their first ten games, an average of nine runs per contest. Early in the season (the first six games) Creighton was pushing runs across with the long ball, but over the last four contests its has been singles, stolen bases and the occasional triple that has powered the Bluejay offense.
Five different Bluejays enter the weekend series with Evansville hitting better than .290, led by junior Parker Upton at .385.
On the mound closer Bobby Kametas remains flawless in five appearances, despite battling a cold early this week.
