Stratton Brown Named BIG EAST Tennis Male Athlete of the Week

Brown finished 2-0 at No. 2 singles and 2-0 during doubles play
OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton men's tennis sophomore Stratton Brown earned this week's BIG EAST Tennis Male Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Brown ended the week a perfect 4-0 while helping the Bluejays to victories against North Dakota and Illinois State.
The Salina, Kansas native opened the weekend by combining with Armando Gandini for a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles against the Fighting Hawks on Saturday. Brown also earned a 6-4, 6-0 win in No. 2 singles as Creighton earned a one-point victory against North Dakota, 4-3.
The sophomore combined with Joe Hoff for a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles to clinch the doubles point against Illinois State on Sunday. He also earned a victory during Creighton's lone three-set match against the Redbirds. Brown fell 7-5 in the first set before battling back for a 6-3 win in the second and 10-5 victory during a deciding 10-point tiebreaker third set for the Bluejays' fifth point of the afternoon in a 5-2 dual victory.
Creighton ended the regular season with a 9-9 record and will play at the 2019 BIG EAST Championships in Cayce, South Carolina, which is scheduled for April 19-21.
