CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Creighton University's Katie Allen and Margaret Hickey are among 1,097Â collegiate golfers recognized by the Women's Golf Coaches Association as All-American Scholars.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50. The 2018-19 WGCA All-American Scholar Teams can be found at http://GoCreighton.com/documents/2019/7/8//WGCA_AllScholar_Release_1819.pdf?id=19965.
Hickey was honored for the second consecutive year, while it was the first such honor for Allen. Both women owned a spot on the Creighton Dean's List in both semesters during the recently completed 2018-19 academic year.
A Phoenix, Ariz., native, Allen led Creighton with a 77.7 scoring average during her freshman season. That ranks as the best single-season scoring average by a Bluejay in the last 17 years.
Hickey is a sophomore from Glencoe, Ill., who ranked fourth on the club with a 80.7 scoring average in 2018-19.
Creighton's two honorees were tied for the fourth-most in the BIG EAST.
The Bluejays, who placed fifth at the BIG EAST Championships in April, are coached by Debbie Conry. The women in the program own a cumulative GPA of 3.558.
