Marshall Leads Women's Golf at Diane Thomason Invitational

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Creighton women's golf team wrapped up play at the Diane Thomason Invitational in Iowa City, finishing 14th in the 16-team field with a 54-hole score of 949 at Finkbine Golf Course. The par-72 course, played at 6,437 yards, yielded a field scoring average of 78.44 per round among its 90 competitors.
Junior Katharine Marshall paced the Bluejays with rounds of 80-77-73 to finish at 230, good for a tie for 21st place out of 90 golfers.
Omaha native and Elkhorn North graduate Julia Karmazin followed with a 236 (80-79-77) to tie for 49th, while senior Morgan Becker carded a 238 after loops of 82, 78 and 78 to share 54th place.
Freshman Madison Murnan tied her season-best round with a 77 in the second round on her way to a 245 (86-77-82), and junior Karsen Morrison rounded out the lineup with a 251 (86-82-83).
Host Iowa captured the team title with an 889 (296-303-290), five strokes ahead of runner-up Montana State (293-300-301).
Montana State's Lauren Greeny took home medalist honors with a five-under 211 (64-75-72), finishing six shots ahead of Omaha's Katie Ruge (72-73-72).
Creighton returns to action October 13–14 when it hosts the Big O Classic at Oak Hills Country Club in Omaha.
