Omaha, Neb. -- Playing the third of four games in eight days, the Creighton women's basketball team faces Marquette on Friday, Jan. 3rd at 7:00 pm.

Series with Marquette: Bluejays Lead Golden Eagles, 13-8
Creighton holds an 13-8 series edge on the Golden Eagles, including an 8-6 advantage since the two teams became BIG EAST foes. The Bluejays are 8-1 against Marquette in Omaha.

Scouting Marquette (9-3, 0-1 BIG EAST)
The most surprising team in the BIG EAST, Marquette was expected to take a step backward after losing its starting five, including four players with over 1,000 points. In addition the Golden Eagles saw head coach Carolyn Kieger departed after the 2018-19,
Despite all the change, the Golden Eagles are out to an impressive 9-3 start. Marquette entered BIG EAST play on a five-game winning streak, but dropped its conference opener at preseason favorite DePaul.
Junior Selena Lott leads Marquette with 15.2 ppg, while two other Golden Eagles enter the game with Creighton averaging double figures in Isabelle Spingola (11.0 ppg) and Lauren Van Kleunen (10.7 ppg).
Marquette had been highly proficient at sharing the basketball, averaging 18.6 assists per game. Conversely the Golden Eagles are committing 18.0 turnovers per game.
Scouting Creighton (10-3, 2-0 BIG EAST)
Despite playing every game this season without at least one active player unavailable due to injury, the Bluejays have found a way to get off to a 10-3 start. Creighton claimed a pair of road wins to open BIG EAST action, collecting wins at Georgetown and Villanova.
Senior Jaylyn Agnew has been the constant for Creighton this season, averaging 19.3 ppg, while guards Tatum Rembao (11.0 ppg), Temi Carda (10.8 ppg)
and Olivia Elger (10.7 ppg) are each averaging double figures.
Another player that has emerged for the Bluejays recently is sophomore Rachael Saunders. The Iowa native has started four games this season, helping Creighton claim victories in each contest.
The Bluejays have turned to their defense often this season, limiting nine of 13 opponents to 63 points or less. Creighton is 8-1 in those battles.

Agnew Tops 30 For Second Time This Season
Senior Jaylyn Agnew topped the 30-point mark for the second time during the 2019-20 season with 31 in the Bluejays' 58-42 win at Villanova on Dec. 31st. Earlier this season she posted a career-high 34 points against West Virginia on Nov. 28th.
The last time a Bluejay posted a pair of 30-point games came during the 2017-18 season as Audrey Faber scored 34 at Drake (Dec. 3rd, 2017) and 30 against #13 Florida State (Dec. 21st, 2017).
To find a Bluejay that topped 30 or more points at least three times in a season, you have to go back to Christy Neneman during the 2002-03 season. Neneman delivered four 30-point performances that year.
Carda Dishes Out Eight Assists Without a Turnover at Villanova
Junior Temi Carda delivered one of her best performances as a distributor, dishing out a career-high eight assists in Creighton's 58-42 win at Villanova on Dec. 31st. Carda did so without committing a turnover and also posted 12 points in the Bluejay win.
Bluejays open BIG EAST Play with First Two-Game Road Sweep Since Joining Conference
Entering its seventh season as a member of the BIG EAST, the Bluejays have posted their first road sweep to open conference play. The Bluejays have gone 1-1 in five of their first six seasons as a member of the BIG EAST, while going 0-2 in their first two road games during the 2014-15 season.
