Watson and Kruse Earn BIG EAST Offensive and Goalkeeper of the Week Honors

Omaha, Neb. -- Callum Watson and Paul Kruse each earned BIG EAST Weekly Honors on Monday, October 25th. Watson was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Kruse earned Goalkeeper of the Week.
Watson tied for the BIG EAST lead in points and goals last week, sparking Creighton to a 2-0-0 mark with two goals and an assist. The senior midfielder's first goal of the season came in the 64th minute against Xavier on Wednesday as the Bluejays went on to win 2-0. He followed that with a goal and assist against Seton Hall on Saturday, scoring the match's first goal in the 40th minute before assisting on Manu Toledano's game winner in the 83rd.  Â

Kruse posted a 2-0-0 record in net for the Bluejays last week, showing a .923 save percentage while surrendering just one goal in victories over Xavier and Seton Hall. The senior made six stops in each contest to lead the BIG EAST in saves per game last week, while also posting the top save percentage among goalkeepers with multiple appearances. Kruse earned the shutout win over Xavier on Wednesday, marking his third solo shutout of the season.
Kruse, Watson and the rest of the Bluejay squad return to action on Saturday, October 30th in their final road match of the regular season at Butler. The match is set for a 6:00 pm kick off.

BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Will Sands, Georgetown, Jr., D
In a 2-0-0 week for the No. 2 Hoyas, Sand sparked a defense which limited opponents to just eight total shots on goal last week as Georgetown outshot RV St. John's and Xavier by a 23-15 margin, including 14-8 on target. The junior defender was instrumental on the other end of the pitch as well, tallying two goals and an assist in a 2-1 road win over Xavier. His strike in the 56th minute proved to be the game winner. With the two victories, Georgetown clinched a BIG EAST Championship berth.Â

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Quint Breitkreuz, Butler, Fr., MÂ
Breitkreuz came up big for the Bulldogs in an unbeaten (1-0-1) week. The rookie midfielder had a goal and assist in Butler's 2-1 home win over Marquette on Wednesday, assisting on Wilmer Cabrera, Jr.'s opening goal in the sixth minute before providing the 102nd-minute golden goal to clinch the win. Breitkreuz registered two shots in each contest last week, including two in a draw at DePaul on Saturday.Â
