Scouting Butler
Butler enters the final match of the regular season with a minimal amount on the line. With 19 point the Bulldogs have clinched a home match in the opening round of the BIG EAST Tournament. With a win over Creighton, Butler would clinch the three seed. With a loss, Butler could fall no farther than the four seed and would still host a first round match.
Offensively the Bulldogs are led by Katie Soderstrom (10 goals and six assists). Just a step back is Abigail Isger with 20 points on seven goals and six assists.
In net the Bulldogs have relied heavily on Emma Martin. She has played in each match this season, posting a 0.61 goals against average (GAA). Martin is 13-2-1 this season.
Scouting Creighton
After getting off to a 6-1-1 start in non-conference play, injuries have beset the Bluejay program. Eight Bluejays have been sidelined for the 2021 season, while at least three others are questionable for the meeting with the Bulldogs.
Offensively sophomore Abigail Santana guides the Bluejay offense with a team best eight goals. With Santana moving back into her natural position in the midfield, the Bluejays have also looked to the likes of freshmen Hailey Rothwell for offensive firepower of late.
Defensively junior Keelan Terrell has delivered a standout season in net. She has seven shutouts, 63 saves and a 0.96 GAA.
Bluejays and Red Storm Out Last Four-Hour Weather Delay
Creighton and St. John's battled through a four-hour weather delay on Sunday, October 24th to finish their regularly scheduled match. Lightning and heavy rain in the area of Morrison Stadium pushed the match four times before the two squads were finally able to get started. Once the match began, the contest continued uninterrupted.
