Bluejay Women's Basketball Falls at Nebraska, 67-62

Lincoln, Neb. -- The Creighton women's basketball team suffered a 67-62 defeat to intrastate rival Nebraska on Wednesday, Nov. 17.
The loss moved the Bluejays to 1-2 on the season, while Nebraska climbed to 4-0.
The Bluejays scored the opening bucket of the contest, but Nebraska responded with a 9-0 run to hold a 9-2 edge with 5:41 remaining. Creighton closed the quarter with an 8-2 run, highlighted a traditional three-point play from senior Tatum Rembao and a three-ball from sophomore Morgan Maly.
The second quarter belonged to Nebraska, outscoring Creighton 22-10 to take a 33-20 lead into the locker room.
Coming out of the second half the Bluejays scored the first six points of the second half, punctuated by a trey from sophomore Emma Ronsiek to force Husker head coach Amy Williams to use a timeout with the Bluejays down 33-26 (7:52).
Nebraska responded to the instruction of their head coach, pushing its lead to as much as 15 points at 49-34 with 1:08 left in the third.
Trailing 60-50 with 3:42 left in the game the Bluejays closed to win three points in the closing moments at 65-62 but could not complete the comeback.
Bachelor led the Bluejays with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Maly delivered 16 points and Rembao finished with 12 points.
Nebraska got a team-high 15 points from Sam Haiby and 11 from freshmen Alexis Markowski.
Creighton returns to hardwood on Sunday, Nov. 21 as the Bluejays host South Dakota State at 7:00 pm in D.J. Sokol Arena.
