Men's Soccer Suffers 2-1 Loss At DePaul

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Creighton men's soccer team fell 2-1 to DePaul during a BIG EAST Midwest Division match on Saturday afternoon at Wish Field in Chicago.
The Bluejays dropped to 2-1-0 in league play and 2-3-0 overall, while the Blue Demons improved to 2-2-0 in BIG EAST action and 2-2-2 overall.
DePaul scored the game-winning goal off a corner kick during the 78th minute. Timmy Iscra headed home a corner from Jake Fuderer to give the Blue Demons a one-goal advantage.
Creighton's goal came during the 45th minute. Trailing 1-0, the Bluejays used a late attack to tie the match just before the half. After a throw in from the near sideline, Mitch Dobson recovered a loose ball in the box and slotted it inside the near post for his first career goal as a Bluejay.
The Blue Demons' first goal of the match came on a free kick from just outside the top of the 18-yard box during the 27th minute.
After an even first half, Creighton held an 8-3 edge in shots during the second half but DePaul made four saves to keep the Bluejays out of the goal column in the final 45 minutes.
DePaul owned a 12-5 edge in corner kicks, including 9-2 after halftime.
Dobson and Musa Qongo each had two shots on goal to pace the Bluejays, while Nathan Schnur made three saves during his third start of the season.
Creighton returns to the pitch for a pair of conference contests next week at Morrison Stadium. The Bluejays are slated to play Butler on Wednesday at 2 p.m. before hosting Marquette on March 20 at 1 p.m.
