Women's Soccer Forces Double Overtime, Falls 2-1 at DePaul

Chicago, Ill. -- Junior Ansley Atkinson pulled Creighton even with an unassisted goal in the 68th minute to force overtime, but the Creighton women's soccer team fell at DePaul 2-1 in the second extra session.
The loss moved Creighton to 0-3-0 on the season and 0-2-0 in BIG EAST action, while DePaul climbed to 2-2-0 overall and 1-2-0 in conference play.
DePaul tallied its goal in the fifth minute of play as Morgan Turner sent a free kick into the box for Kristin Boos to head into the left corner. That proved to be the only shot of the opening half for the Blue Demons, while Creighton had four shots in the first half.
Atkinson took advantage of a free kick in the 68th minute, striking a crossing shot from about 25 yards away into the lower right corner.
The match remained scoreless into the early moments of the second overtime session. In the 102nd minute, DePaul turned another free kick into a win. This time it was Gwen Walker finding the head of Turner for the game-winning goal.
The Bluejays were unable to create offense in the extra sessions, going without a shot in overtime. DePaul, meanwhile, had three opportunities after regulation. The Blue Demons closed the game with a 9-8 edge in shots. Creighton held an 11-5 edge in corners.
Creighton returns to the pitch on Thursday, March 18 as the Bluejays host Butler at 1:00 pm in Morrison Stadium.
