Women's Golf Places Seventh at The Stampede at The Creek

Gabby Tremblay leads CU for third time this spring
ELKHORN, Neb. -- The Creighton women's golf team finished in seventh place at The Stampede at The Creek on Tuesday.
Freshman Gabby Tremblay led Creighton for the third time in four tournaments this spring as she tied for 12th place following circuits of 81, 79 and 81. She leads CU with a 79.58 scoring average this season in 12 rounds.
Sophomore Katie Allen tied for 24th place. She started with an 84 before closing with consecutive 82s.
Claire Orcutt tied for 28th with scores of 83, 85 and 84 for a 252 aggregate, finishing two shots better than junior Margaret Hickey (84-85-85).
Katie Berrian's first round 81 tied for the team lead and preceded loops by the freshman of 89 and 85 to tie for 34th place, and sophomore Kristin Goertz tied for 43rd place following scores of 89, 84 and 86.
Playing as an individual were Katie Wilson and Amelia Lee. Wilson fired rounds of 84, 87 and 85 to place 36th and Lee tied for 46th after scores of 87, 89 and 84. The 84 for both women were season-lows.
The tournament featured eight teams and 56 overall competitors. South Dakota State won the tourney with a 929 total, 15 shots better than South Dakota. SDSU's Teresa Toscano brought home medalist honors with a 225 total (73-73-79), eight shots better than Green Bay's Ashley Kulka. The event was hosted at The Club at Indian Creek in Elkhorn, Neb., which measured 6,050 yards and was a par 72 layout.
Creighton closes the regular-season on April 23-25 with the BIG EAST Championship in Fort Myers, Fla.
