Setting the stage
Thursday's victory over Marquette put Creighton in the lead of the Midwest race for second place.
Butler (5-1) is almost a lock for the Midwest top spot, but Creighton (3-3), Marquette (3-4), Xavier (2-3) and DePaul (2-4) are all within a whisker of one another.
If the Bluejays can manage another victory on Sunday, it does not clinch a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament. However, it would give the Bluejays an excellent chance heading into the season finale at Butler on April 8.
The Bluejays are riding a three-match winning streak, their first in BIG EAST play. The last time Creighton posted a three-match winning streak was back in 2010 as a member of the Missouri
Valley Conference (MVC).
