Baseball Opens BIG EAST Tournament Against Seton Hall

Bluejays Battle Pirates in Tournament Opener at 1:30 pm on Thursday
Mason, Ohio -- Creighton Baseball begins its defense of the BIG EAST Tournament Championship it claimed in 2019 on Thursday, May 27 as the Bluejays face Seton Hall at 1:30 pm.

Scouting the Pirates (2021: 23-23, 16-11 BIG EAST)
Seton Hall comes into the matchup with Creighton hungry as the Pirates dropped the final four games of the season at Connecticut last weekend.
At the same time, Seton Hall brings a level of confidence to the matchup with Creighton as the Pirates swept a doubleheader from the Bluejays in South Orange on May 15.
The Pirates are expected to send Ryan McClinsky to the bump. The right hander sports a 2.85 ERA over 53.2 innings. McClinsky is 4-1 on the season, but took the loss against the Bluejays on May 14. He allowed five runs (four earned) in 3.2 innings as Creighton claimed a 6-1 win.
At the plate Seton Hall brings a team average of .264, led by four regulars above .299. Will Gale leads the way at .321, followed by Casey Dana (.313), Matt Toke (.306) and Devin Hack (.299).
Scouting the Bluejays (2021: 23-13, 15-6 BIG EAST)
Since opening the season 4-7, Creighton has won 19 of 25 games.
The Bluejays, however, went 4-4 in their final two BIG EAST series. During those eight games Creighton
uncharacteristically committed 11 errors, while the Bluejays had 12 errors in their first 28 games.
Creighton comes to Ohio hitting .268 as a team, led by freshman Alan Roden's team-high .381.
On the mound the squad has a team ERA of 3.95. Guiding Creighton was sophomore Dylan Tebrake's 8-0 record and 2.67 ERA.
