Omaha, Neb. -- Known for consistently challenging his Bluejay squad, head coach Jim Flanery has done it once more as in 2021-22. Creighton's typical schedule (Drake, Nebraska, South Dakota State, Northern Iowa and South Dakota State) is infused with Arizona State and Arkansas, giving the Bluejays six of eight non-conference opponents with an NET ranking of 64 or better last season.Â
The season begins on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at D.J. Sokol Arena with an exhibition game against Wayne State. Following the annual tune-up game, the Bluejays face off with former MVC rival Drake to open the year for the second consecutive season. Creighton travels to Des Moines, Iowa on Nov. 10.Â
The home opener comes three days later as Creighton hosts Omaha on Nov. 13. The intrastate battles continue on Wednesday, Nov. 17 as the Bluejays drive to Lincoln to face Nebraska. In the battle with the Huskers, Creighton will be looking to extend its five-game winning streak.
A series of four consecutive non-conference home games begins against South Dakota State on Nov. 21. Northern Iowa comes to town just after Thanksgiving on Nov. 27, while Arizona State (Dec. 12) and South Dakota (Dec. 16) close out the string of home games.Â
Creighton's final non-conference game of the year takes the Bluejays to Fayetteville on Dec. 21 to face Arkansas.
"The level of competition we will face in the BIG EAST, makes a challenging non-conference schedule more important than ever," noted Flanery.
