Bluejays Dish Out 30 Assists in 95-44 Win at Butler

Ronsiek Leads the Way with 20 Points
Indianapolis, Ind. -- Sharing the ball in almost perfect symmetry, the Creighton women's basketball team racked up 30 assists on 38 made field goals to best Butler 95-44 on Wednesday, January 19.
The win pushed the Bluejays to 13-4 on the season and 8-1 in BIG EAST play, while Butler fell to 1-13 overall and 0-5 in conference action.
Just two days after claiming the BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday, sophomore Emma Ronsiek remained red hot. The South Dakota native scored 17 of her game-high 20 points in the first half.
The first quarter saw Creighton open the game on a 10-2 run in the opening four minutes, getting five points from Ronsiek. Leading 14-9 later in the opening frame, Creighton used another 10-2 run over the final 4:31 to take a 24-11 edge into the second. Sophomore Molly Mogensen started Creighton's second burst with a trey, while three other Bluejays contributed.
Continually extending the lead in the second quarter, Creighton dropped the mic on the game with a 12-0 run at the close of the half to lead 48-19 at halftime.
The final 12-0 run featured seven points from Ronsiek, a three-pointer by sophomore Jayme Horan and a gliding jumper by Mogensen.Â
All 11 Bluejays scored in the contest, while 10 different players dished out at least one assist.
Ronsiek led Creighton with 20 points, while junior Carly Bachelor finished with 16 points. Two other Bluejays delivered double digits as sophomore Mogan Maly closed the game with 14 and sophomore Lauren Jensen had 10 points.
Creighton's 30 assists is the most since the Bluejays posted a program record 37 assists in 1994 against Wichita State on Jan. 21.
Creighton returns to action on Friday, continuing its three-game road trip at Georgetown for a 6:00 pm (CT) tip.
