Washington, D.C. -- The Creighton women's basketball team begins its second trip through the BIG EAST on Friday, Jan. 21 as the Bluejays face Georgetown at 6:00 pm on Friday, Jan. 21.
One oddity of the game on Friday is that Georgetown is not allowing fans in McDonough Arena throughout the month of January due to emergence and rapid spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the Washington, D.C., region, across the country, and globally.

Scouting Georgetown (6-6, 1-3 BIG EAST)
After dropping the BIG EAST opener to Creighton on December 3, Georgetown won three straight. The Hoyas defeated Providence (55-47), George Washington (68-63) and Coppin State (59-53). The combination of a Covid pause and the holidays kept the Hoyas out of action from Dec. 13 to Jan. 14. Since returning to the court, Georgetown dropped games to Marquette (68-32) and DePaul (102-69).
The tandem of Milan Bolden-Morris (12.8 ppg) and Kelsey Ransom (11.4 ppg) lead the Hoyas' offense. Georgetown averages just under 59 ppg.
Defense is the strength of the Hoyas, holding opposition to 62.3 ppg. Georgetown averages 39.8 rebounds per contest and forces 15.5 turnovers per game.
Scouting Creighton (13-4, 8-1 BE)
The Bluejays have gotten off to a hot start this season in part by Creighton's ability win in different ways.
Over the last three games the Bluejay offense has funneled through Emma Ronsiek. The forward has 77 points during that span, dropping a career-high 30 points in Creighton's 86-80 win over St. John's on Jan. 16.
Defensively the Bluejays have been successful at gang rebounding and creating more pressure on the ball this season. The Bluejays are averaging 36.8 rebounds and 14.9 turnovers per contest.
Keys To the Game on Friday, Jan. 21
Rachael Saunders: When it comes to energy, Saunders seems to have an endless supply. The Iowa native is also the emotional leader for the Bluejays.
Bluejays' Ability to Give Runs Over and Over
In Creighton's 95-44 win over Butler on Jan. 19, the Bluejays dished out a season-high 30 assists. That total is the most since Creighton set a program record with 37 helpers on Jan. 21, 1994 in a win over Wichita State (101-71).
Over the last two games the Bluejays have handed out 58 assists in victories over the Bulldogs and St. John's. The 30 assists against Butler is tied for the fourth highest total in Creighton history.
Creighton Eclipses Biggest BIG EAST Win at Butler
Creighton's 51-point margin was the most by a Bluejay squad in BIG EAST play, eclipsing a 47-point win at Butler last season (88-41 on Dec. 6, 2020).
The last time Creighton posted a victory by at least 50 points came on Dec. 30, 1993 when the Bluejays' largest margin of victory was set in a 106-44 win over Delaware. The 62-point win came in a neutral site game in Philadelphia.
Bluejays Positioning For an At-Large Berth
At 13-4 the Creighton women's basketball team enters the game at Georgetown in position to earn an at-large berth for the BIG EAST. Creighton ranks 25th in the NET and was in Charlie Creme's Jan. 14 ESPN Bracketology as an 11-seed.

Keys To the Game on Friday, Jan. 21
- Rebounding: Georgetown is one of the rebounding teams in the BIG EAST. That makes crashing the glass a key.
- Taking Care of the Ball: In Creighton's 64-38 win over Georgetown earlier this season (Dec. 3), the Bluejays committed 18 turnovers.
- Maintaining Energy: In an empty arena (no fans allowed at Georgetown) and in the midst of a three-game road trip, the Bluejays will need to rely on themselves for energy.
Rachael Saunders: When it comes to energy, Saunders seems to have an endless supply. The Iowa native is also the emotional leader for the Bluejays.
