OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton women's soccer seniors Gabby Grimaldi, Aida Kardovic, Juelle Love and Jordy Rothwell, as well as junior Abigail Santana each earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District First Team on Tuesday, November 15.
The 2022 Academic All-District ® Women's Soccer Team, selected by CSC, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division II and NAIA.
The Bluejays' five honorees are the most by the Creighton women's soccer program in a single year, surpassing the previous high of three in 2009 and 2007.
All five Bluejays now advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
A four-year player for the Bluejays, Grimaldi entered the fall with a 3.97 cumulative GPA, majoring in Exercise Science / Pre-Health Professional and minoring in Spanish and Hispanic Studies. In her career, Grimaldi appeared in 65 matches, logging a combined 4,722 minutes on the pitch. She has delivered a pair of assists, including one in the first round of the BIG EAST Championships against Butler, earning a spot on the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team this season.
Excelling in the classroom and on the pitch, Kardovic boasted a 3.63 cumulative GPA, majoring in Psychology and Sociology while minoring in Women's and Gender Studies.
