#16 Bluejay Women's Basketball Faces Omaha on Tuesday

Omaha, Neb. -- The 16th ranked Creighton Women's Basketball team play its fourth road game in the first five contests of the 2022-23 season as the Bluejays take on Omaha on Tuesday, November 22 at 7:05 p.m.

Creighton earned a slim edge over the Mavericks in the series with the Bluejays' victory last season. The Bluejays have won the last 15 meetings, including each since the the rivalry was renewed in 2014. Creighton, however, is 7-9 in road games versus Omaha.

The Bluejays' impressive start to the 2022-23 season continued on November 20 as Creighton bested Northern Iowa 85-66.
For the fourth straight game a different Bluejay stepped forward to guide the offense. Against the Panthers it was junior Emma Ronsiek with 23 points to lead the way. Â
Creighton is shooting 47.3% from the field in three games, led Molly Mogensen's 58.3% (21-of-36) and Carly Bachelor's 52.9% (18-of-34).
The Bluejays have shown extra attention to ball security, committing just 38 turnovers in four games.

Carly Bachelor: Omaha will undoubtedly focus its defense on slowing down Lauren Jensen as well as defending the three-point line. This will give copious opportunities for Bachelor.
Fast Start is a Rarity for the Bluejays
Off to a 4-0 start for the first time since the 1992-93 season, the Creighton women's basketball team has is off to its best start under head coach Jim Flanery.
The Bluejays' best have gotten off to a better start twice in school history, starting 6-0 to open the 1984-85 season and 8-0 to open the 1986-87 campaign.
Bluejay Women's Hoops Continues to Climb AP Poll, Checking in at #16
Powered by a 4-0 start to the 2022-23 season, the Creighton women's basketball team continued to climb the Associated Press Top 25 poll, reaching a program high of #16 when the poll was announced on Monday, November 21.
Creighton has previously been ranked 13 other times in the AP Poll (6) and USA Today/Coaches Poll (&). The Bluejays were No. 21 in the preseason AP and USA Today/Coaches Poll.
The 2022-23 season began for the Bluejays with a pair of road victories, 78-69 at No. 23 South Dakota State on Nov. 7 and 74-51 at South Dakota on Nov. 10. Creighton's home season began with a 77-51 win over #22 Nebraska (Nov. 15),
followed by another impressive road win at Northern Iowa 85-66 on Nov. 20.

- Making Pilakouta work defensively: The Maverick center has been held to 24 points in three games against Creighton. With her size edge, the Bluejays will need to force her to work on defensively.
- Dialing Long Distance: Creighton has averaged 10.3 treys against the Mavericks in the last three meetings.
- Rebounding: The Bluejays will enter Baxter Arena with a rare height advantage over Omaha. Taking advantage of that edge will impact the final score.
