OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton women's soccer head coach Ross Paule announced the addition of Division II Limestone transfer Azumi Manriki for the 2022 season on Tuesday, April 26.
Manriki completed her first season with the Saints as the South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the year after finishing the season with five goals and team-highs in assists (6) and points (16). As a midfielder, Manriki started 13 matches, logging 1,184 minutes while becoming the only Saint to earn First Team All-South Atlantic Conference honors. Manriki closed out the 2021 season by being named to the D2CCA All-Southeast Region Second Team.
Before arriving at Limestone, Manriki played a season at Diavorosso Hiroshima after starting the first three years of her career at Angeviolet Hiroshima in Hiroshima, Japan. While in Japan, Manriki was part of the Japanese U16/17 Youth National Team Pool, where she helped lead the squad to the round of 16 of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.
"We are looking forward to Azumi joining our team this Fall," said Paule. "Her clean and proficient technical ability, tactical awareness, strong work ethic and positive character will make her a valuable addition and effective member of our roster."
The addition of Manriki brings Creighton's incoming class to 11 newcomers joining Kurumi Arakawa, Sydney Drees, Ella Findlay, Kailey Hall, Lisa Hall, Hannah Luke, Ariana Mondiri, Jess Torres and Reiss Wood.
