
Creighton Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2022 Announced

Carol Ketcham, Renae Sinkler-O'Gorman and Megan (Bober) Varasteh will be recognized
OMAHA, Neb. —Carol Ketcham, Renae Sinkler-O'Gorman and Megan (Bober) Varasteh have been announced as the 2022 class for the Creighton Athletics Hall of Fame, McCormick Endowed Athletic Director Marcus Blossom announced on Friday, August 26th.
The selections continue Creighton's celebration of the 50th anniversary of Title IX and is just the fourth all-female Creighton Athletics Hall of Fame class ever, joining 1987 (Mary Higgins), 1992 (Connie Yori & Mary Yori) and 1996 (Tanya Warren).
Carol Ketcham
Carol Ketcham worked at Creighton from 1970-2014 in roles ranging from secretary, administrative assistant, athletic ticket manager, compliance, special events coordinator, director of special events, director of athletic development and Senior Woman Administrator.
"Ketch", as she's known to just about everyone, played a huge role in creating, organizing and/or growing major Creighton events such as the Bluejay Jamboree, Creighton Athletics Hall of Fame banquet, Leaders for Life and virtually every other large get-together involving Jaybackers.
The Shenandoah, Iowa, native also performed a variety of duties with the College World Series, helping with everything from play-by-play typist, team ticket distribution, and coordination of courtesy cars while working close to 500 games through the years.
Ketcham was recognized in 1990 with Creighton's Distinguished Services Administrator Award, in 1996 with the 25 Years of Special Service award and most recently in 2007 with the Leaders For Life Award.
Ketcham retired after 44 years at Creighton in 2014, and is one of the most-tenured staffers in the history of the Athletic Department. She resides in Omaha.
Renae Sinkler-O'Gorman
Renae Sinkler-O'Gorman starred on the diamond for the Bluejay Softball team from 2007-10, then contributed to the program's success as an assistant coach from 2012-21. She won a title in each of her four seasons with the Bluejays as a player, as Creighton won three straight regular-season crowns from 2007 to 2009 and Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championships in 2007 and 2010.
The Lincoln native put together the greatest offensive season in school history as a senior in 2010, setting single-season school records for runs (59), RBI (58), total bases (147), slugging percentage (.880), on-base percentage (.514) as she hit an MVC-record 24 home runs. She ranked fourth in the NCAA in home runs per game and sixth in slugging percentage, earning NFCA Third Team All-America honors as a senior.
By the time she graduated, Sinkler-O'Gorman had crushed a then-Creighton record and ranked third all-time in MVC history with 50 career home runs. She also owned school records of 146 RBI and 391 total bases. A member of three Bluejay NCAA Tournament teams, she earned MVC First Team honors three times, NFCA All-Region honors twice and remains one of four players in league history named MVC Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons. In 2018 she was named to the MVC's Women's Softball 25-Year Team.
Sinkler-O'Gorman was also part of the 2013 MVC Coaching Staff of the Year. She graduated from CU in 2011 with a degree in graphic design and minors in computer science and web design, then completed her master's in organizational leadership in 2020.
O'Gorman and her husband Paul reside in Omaha. They have a daughter Lillyana and a son, Dominic.
Megan (Bober) Varasteh
Megan (Bober) Varasteh starred as a member of the Creighton Volleyball program from 2008-12, becoming the program's first player in earn AVCA All-America honors multiple times.
Varasteh's senior year was one for the record books, both on and off the court. She became the volleyball program's first woman named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year as well as MVC Tournament MVP, helping the Bluejays to their first regular-season and conference tournament titles and a then-record 29 victories. Varasteh was named MVC Player of the Week three times and Defensive Player of the Week twice in 2012 as the nation's only player to average 9.50 assists, 1.90 digs and 1.75 kills per set en route to becoming the program's third player to be First Team All-MVC three times.
Her nine triple doubles as a junior in 2011 set a conference record and led the nation. During her sophomore season (2010), Varasteh was CU's lone First Team All-MVC selection as the Bluejays earned their first NCAA Tournament bid, and win, as a program.
She closed her career with a school-record 15 triple-doubles (second in MVC history) and as the only player in league history with at least 4,000 assists, 1,000 digs, 800 kills and 400 blocks.
In addition to being named Creighton's Female Athlete of the Year, she was also recognized as the Carl M. Reinert, S.J., Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, repeated her spot on the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team and was named a CoSIDA Academic All-American Second Team selection as a senior.
The Murdock, Neb., product graduated in 2013 with a degree in Exercise Science. She and her husband, Alex, live in St. Louis.
Ketcham, Sinkler-O'Gorman and Varasteh are part of the 54th class of inductees and will give the Creighton Athletics Hall of Fame 94 inductees, plus the 1991 Creighton Baseball Team.
