Women's Basketball Heads To Washington to Face Georgetown

Omaha, Neb. -- The Creighton Women's Basketball team makes its second trip to the Eastern Time zone this week as the Bluejays face Georgetown for the first time in 2022-23 on Saturday.

Flanery vs. Georgetown
Flanery is 15-4 against the Hoyas and is 9-2 against current Georgetown head coach James Howard.
Scouting Georgetown (11-9, 4-7 BIG EAST)
Georgetown opened the 2022-23 season with eight wins in its first 12 games, including seven by 15 points or more.
Once BIG EAST began to heat up, however, the Hoyas dropped five consecutive. Four of those losses came by double digits, including a 24 point home loss to Butler (72-48 on Jan. 11).
The Hoyas have swing the pendulum back into their favor with three straight victories, including an impressive 74-66 win over Seton Hall on Jan. 25.
Junior Kelsey Ransom leads Georgetown with 12.9 ppg, while freshman Kennedy Fauntleroy has 12.6 ppg. In BIG EAST action the duo have swapped places with Fauntleroy averaging 14.7 ppg and Ransom at 13.5 ppg.
Defensively Georgetown has good length and athleticism, which has helped them force 353 turnovers this season (17.7 per game).

The 2022-23 Bluejay season has been somewhat up and down. It began with a seven-game win streak, including three over ranked opponents.
The first loss came in the seventh road game of eight contests, but four losses in five games and five of seven put the Bluejays at 9-5.
Since a loss to Providence on January 4, Creighton has won four of five.
Creight on is guided on offense by the trio of Lauren Jensen (15.9 ppg), Morgan Maly (15.8 ppg) and Emma Ronsiek (12.9 ppg).
Defensively a pair of veterans steady the Bluejays as seniors Rachael Saunders and Carly Bachelor guide the energy and effort.
Keys To the Game on Saturday, January 28
Senior Carly Bachelor grabbed double digit rebounds for the ninth time in her career with 10 in Creighton's 64-46 win at Providence on Jan. 24. Bachelor's nine equals that of the rest of her team as Emma Ronsiek has four, Morgan Maly brings three and Rachael Saunders has done so twice.
Flanery Earns 100th Road Win in Conference Play
The victory at Providence also marked head coach Jim Flanery's 100th road win in conference action. Flanery
enters the game at Georgetown 100-85 in conference road contests.
