#22 Women's Basketball Suffers First Loss, 65-53 to Green Bay

Bluejays are 2-1 heading into Sunday's game at Nebraska
Omaha, Neb. -- A 15-point fourth quarter deficit proved too much to overcome as No. 22 Creighton Women's Basketball lost 65-53 on Thursday evening to Green Bay.
Following Thursday's result both the Bluejays and Phoenix moved to 2-1 on the season. The game was the first meeting between the schools since 1995.
The visitors took control with a 17-0 run early in the contest to build a 21-5 lead and were ahead 22-9 after 10 minutes. CU drew within six thanks to a 7-0 run to start the second quarter but Green Bay outscored the Jays 14-6 the rest of the quarter to take a 36-22 lead into the intermission.
Maddy Schreiber had eight of her team-high 14 points in the third quarter and a lay-up from Natalie Andersen just before the buzzer gave Green Bay the 52-37 lead after three quarters.
Down 52-37 after three quarters the Bluejays would close within 55-51 with 5:35 left before the Phoenix rose again with a 6-0 run over the next four minutes to ice the game.
Lauren Jensen led Creighton with 21 points, including nine points in the fourth quarter, while Emma Ronsiek finished with 15 points. The Bluejays shot just 6-of-26 (23.1%) from three-point range.
Creighton is back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m. when it visits Nebraska.
