
Bluejay Softball Inks Five For 2024 Signing Class

OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton's softball head coach Krista Wood announced the signing of five players who will join the program in the fall of 2024, as each officially signed their letter of intent this week.
Infielders Mazie Flud (Preston, Okla.), Cydney Fullerton (Columbia, Mo.), Reese Ramos (Murphy, Texas), infielder and catcher Anya German (Austin, Texas) and utility player Abby Rusher (Ankeny, Iowa) will each join the Bluejays for the 2025 season.
"We are so excited to welcome this incoming group of Bluejays to our Creighton Softball family," said Wood. "This group is versatile, competitive, focused, and extremely hardworking. Their love for the game and determination to get better will make an immediate impact on our program. Their character and leadership truly fit the mold of our team's culture and vision and will fit right into our Bluejay family."

Mazie Flud, Infielder, Preston, Okla., Preston HS
- A four-time letterwinner, Flud played two years of softball at Kiefer HS before finishing out her prep career at Preston HS in Preston, Oklahoma.
- As a senior, Flud was named First Team All-State and All-District 2A-13 after leading the Pirates to a 32-6 overall record and the programs first state tournament appearance since 2001.
- Earned Class 2A District Offensive Player of the Year honors after recording a .500 batting average with 15 doubles, four triples and nine home runs as she helped Preston capture the Class 2A District 13 and Regional 13 Championships as a senior this fall.
- As a freshman and sophomore, Flud earned a spot on the Tulsa World All-World Honorable Mention Team after helping Kiefer High School to a 24-11 overall record.
- Flud garnered Class 3A District 6 All-District honors as a freshman after guiding Kiefer to the semifinals of the OSSAA Regional Tournament with a 24-9 record.
- Prior to her freshman season, Flud earned a spot on the prestigious 2019 USA Region 5 All-American Team.
- Flud played club softball for the Aces Fastpitch team out of Kansas City and was coached by Ryan Taylor.
- Outside of softball, Mazie is heavily involved within her community, volunteering at the Tulsa Youth Ranch.
- Her father, Jacob, played baseball at Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Cydney Fullerton, Infielder, Columbia, Mo., Rock Bridge HS
- A four-time First Team Central Missouri Activities (CMAC) All-Conference performer, Fullerton finished her career as one of the most decorated athletes in Rock Bridge High School history.
- Fullerton capped off her career this fall ranked first in program history with 172 hits, 158 runs scored, 11 triples and 406 total at-bats, while ranking second with 54 stolen bases and 65 walks.
- She also finished her career ranked third in school history for career RBI (133) and home runs (32), as well as fourth in doubles (42) and sixth in career batting average (.424).
- Over the course of her four years with the Bruins, Fullerton guided her team to a 121-20-1 overall record, including a pair of CMAC Conference championships.
- As a senior, Fullerton earned MHSFCA Class 5 All-State First Team honors after posting a .400 batting average with a school record five triples and five home runs.
- Led the Bruins to a Class 5A District 6 Runner-up finish and a 37-2 overall record after setting the single-season program record with 60 hits and 64 runs scored.
- In addition, she earned First Team All-Region and First Team All-State honors after recording a .465 batting average and a .938 slugging percentage with 14 home runs as a junior.
- Hit .416 and posted a .486 on-base percentage with 13 doubles, two triples and seven home runs, earning First Team All-Conference and All-District honors as a sophomore.
- Led Rock Bridge to a perfect 29-0 record and a Class 5A State Championships as a freshman.
- Fullerton played club softball for the Columbia Select Fastpitch under the direction of Eric Jones and Mike Byrn.
- Off the field, Fullerton excelled in the classroom earning Academic All-State honors twice.
Anya German, Infielder, Austin, Texas, James Bowie HS
- A three-year starting catcher from James Bowie High School in Austin, Texas.
- Earned Class 6A-26 First Team All-District honors for a second straight year after leading the Bulldawgs to a Bi-District championship with 24 wins as a junior.
- Was also named the District Offensive Player of the Year in 2023 after posting a .383 batting average with six doubles, five home runs and 45 RBI.
- Following her junior season, German was selected to participate in the Texas Girls Coaches Association Softball All-Star Game.
- Led the Bulldawgs with a .416 batting average and a .702 slugging percentage on nine doubles and six home runs while being named the Bulldawgs Defensive Player of the Year.
- She was also named First Team All-District and Second Team All-Central Texas after guiding James Bowie to a Class 6A-District 26 and Bi-District Championship while reaching the Regional Quarterfinals with a 24-9 overall record.
- German was named the James Bowie Offensive Player of the Year after recording a .384 batting average with 10 home runs and 24 runs scored while earning Second Team All-District recognition as a freshman.
- Played club softball for the Texas Hotshots under the direction of head coach Nathan Nelson.
- Off the field, German has excelled in the classroom, earning Academic All-District honors each of the last three years.
Reese Ramos, Infielder, Murphy, Texas, Plano East Senior HS
- A four-year softball letterwinner at Plano East Senior High School in Plano, Texas.
- Was named one of the top shortstops in Texas by Rivals.com each of the last three seasons.
- Earned All-Metroplex Honorable Mention and Class 6-6A Second Team All-District honors after guiding the Panthers to a Dallas Fort Worth Class 6A No. 10 Ranking during her junior season.
- Ramos played club softball for the Texas Glory under the direction of Kevin Shelton and Cedric Coleman.
- In three seasons with the Texas Glory, Ramos guided her team to eight tournament titles while earning a spot on the all-tournament team four times.
- Ramos also excelled in the classroom earning Academic All-District honors as a junior and senior.
- Off the field, Ramos served on the Plano East Student-Athlete Leadership Team as a junior and senior while earning membership to the National Honor Society.
- Father, Rex Ramos, played baseball at Texas Tech in 1983 while her sister, Ronni Ramos, currently plays softball at Williams College.
Abby Rusher, Utility, Des Moines, Iowa, Ankeny HS
- A three-year letterwinner in softball from Ankeny High School in Iowa.
- Earned Class 5A First Team All-State recognition after leading the Hawks to a Class 5A District 1 Regional Championship and a berth in the state tournament with a 31-8 overall record.
- Was also named to the All-Central Iowa Metro League First Team as a junior after posting a 1.72 ERA with 143 strikeouts in 122.1 innings of work.
- As a sophomore, Rusher helped led Ankeny to a Class 5A Region 5 Runner-up finish after recording a 1.34 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 36.2 innings pitched.
- Played club softball for Iowa Premier under the direction of Greg Dickel.
- Rusher also played basketball for the Hawks as a freshman and sophomore and participated in track and field during her freshman year.
- She has excelled in the classroom earning All-Academic recognition all three years of high school, as well as the Distinguished Academic Achievement Award and the Academic Excellence award from the Iowa High School Girls Athletic Association.
- Rusher is involved in the Ankeny High School Mental Health Club and FCA and volunteers at Meals for the Heartland and at the Miracle League.
