
Three Women's Golfers Join Bluejay Program

Julia Karmazin, Kayla Maletto and Kinsley Smith. will enroll next fall.
OMAHA, Neb. – Debbie Conry signed three future Bluejays to letters-of-intent to continue their academic and athletic careers as members of the Creighton women's golf program. Joining the Bluejays next fall will be local product Julia Karmazin, as well as Kayla Maletto and Kinsley Smith.

- Four-year member of the Nebraska high school Super State team.
- Class B state champion in 2021 and runner-up at state tournament in 2022 and 2023.
- Helped Elkhorn North to the Class B state team title in 2021, second place in 2023 and third in 2020.
- Won the District title as a senior in 2023.
- The 2023 Nebraska Girls Amateur champion after finishing 2022 as the runner-up.
- 2022 Nebraska Girls' Co-Golfer of the Year and co-captain of the 2022 NGA Junior All-Stars.
- Low junior at the2023 Nebraska Women's Amateur, where she finished as overall runner-up.
- Made second career hole-in-one at US Kids Lincoln Spring Tour Championship in May, helping her shoot a 3-under 69.
- Named Academic All-State in 2022.
- Also a part of the 2022 NSAA Class B Girls State track & field championship team.
- Won state in the 3,200 meters and took third in the 1,600 meters as a 2021, then was sixth in the 1,600 and second in the 3,200 meters in 2022.
- Sister Emily plays golf at Nebraska-Omaha while dad, Kelly, is a member of the Nebraska Wesleyan Athletic Hall of Fame, where he played golf from 1993-97.
Kayla Maletto, West Lawn, Pa. (Wilson High School)
- Named Berks County Interscholastic Athletic Association Player of the Year as a freshman, junior and senior by the BCIAA coaches.
- A BCIAA individual champion and three-time all-state selection.
- Team captain of her high school team in 2020, even though she was the only female on it.
- Won the County Championship in both 2020 and 2022 and also won District Championship in 2022 and 2023.
- Shot a course-record 64 to help her school win its first District championship in 48 years.
- Finished 12th at state in 2021, 11th in 2022 and sixth in Class 3A in 2023.
- Placed seventh in the 2022 Pennsylvania Women's Amateur Championship and sixth in the 2021 Massachusetts Girls' Junior Amateur.
- Won the 2021 Moselem Junior Club Championship, shooting a 7-under par score of 63.
- Plays golf and basketball in high school and played water polo in middle school.
- Three-time member of her high school's High Honor Roll.
- Community service includes Golf Fore Africa, serving as a first Tee Volunteer and helping to create her high school's bible study group.
Kinsley Smith, Raleigh, N.C. (Saint Mary's School)
- Four-time North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association All State choice.
- Tied for seventh individually at state in 2021, helping team to a third-place finish.
- Third team All-State by Tarheel Youth Golf Association in 2021 and 2022.
- Three-time varsity girls golf MVP (2019, 2020, 2021)
- Named to Saint Mary's School Honor Roll in 2021-22 and selected to serve on school's Athletic Council.
- Represented the class of 2024 on school's Homecoming Court.
- Inducted into the National Society of High School Scholars in 2021.
- Placed fifth at CGA Twin States Championship in June of 2022.
- Earned an eighth place showing at CGA Collegiate Showcase in November of 2021.
- Runner-up at the TYGA Tournament of Champions in 2021.
- Volunteered at the 2022 U.S. Women's Open.
- Started playing golf at the age of eight and began playing competitively at the age of 10.
