Men's Golf Closes GCU Invitational in Seventh Place

Charlie Zielinski ties for 16th place wiht 1-under 212
PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Charlie Zielinski tied for 16th place to lead the Creighton men's golf team to a seventh-place finish at the GCU Invitational on Tuesday.
A junior from Omaha, Zielinski shot a pair of 70s on Monday before closing with a 72 on Tuesday for a 1-under 212 aggregate. The 2022 U.S. Amateur qualifier extended his streak of rounds of 79 or lower to 69 in a row.
Junior Shaun Campbell was the opposite of Zielinski, firing consecutive 72's before concluding with a 70 in the final round for a 214 total that tied him for 24th. Also tying for 24th place was senior Tristan Nelko (70-72-72), with his 70 marking his best round as a Bluejay.
Zielinski and Campbell each own seven rounds of par or better this season, while Nelko owns four. The trio also rank 1-2-3 on the team in scoring average.
Junior Jackson Thompson tied for 68th place, sandwiching circuits of 75 around a second round 74.
Rounding out the Bluejay contingent was freshman Grant Feldman, who tied for 80th after rounds of 80, 75 and 73 for a 228 total.
No. 29 TCU (270-280-285) won the team title with a 17-under total of 835, one shot better than North Dakota State (277-275-284) and tourney host Grand Canyon (276-288-272).
Medalist honors went to NDSU's Nate Adams (68-64-68). His 200 aggregate was two shots better than TCU's Gustav Frimodt (69-64-69).
The event featured 16 teams and 88 individuals on the Par 71 GCU Championship Golf Course that measured 7,124 yards.
The Bluejays will not participate in another competition for a month, returning to the course at the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City on April 15-16.
