Natalia Puchino Nabs BIG EAST Freshman of the Week Honors

Puchino tossed first no-hitter of her career against Kansas City
OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton softball's Natalia Puchino has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after tossing the first no-hitter of her career and guiding the Bluejays to a pair of victories over Kansas City.
Puchino recorded a 1-0 record last week with a team-best 2.25 ERA and seven strikeouts in three appearances.
On Wednesday, Puchino struck out a season-high six batters while became the first Bluejay freshman to throw a no-hitter since Tara Oltman did not allow a hit in her first collegiate start in 2007. The Milliken, Colorado native's no-hitter against Kansas City was the Bluejays 26th no-hitter since 1994 and was the first 7-inning complete-game no-hitter since Micaela Whitney fired a complete-game no-hitter against Seton Hall on April 2, 2016.
Puchino wrapped up the week, allowing just one run on three hits in her BIG EAST debut against Villanova on Friday, March 17.
Creighton is back in action on Wednesday at 5 p.m. when it visits crosstown rival Omaha at Connie Claussen Field.
