
Softball Announces Signing of Eight Recruits

OMAHA, Neb. – As she aims to lead her team to a third straight BIG EAST Tournament this spring, Creighton Softball head coach Krista Wood announced a recruiting class that she hopes will continue to keep the Bluejays atop the league for years to come.
Today Wood announced an eight-person recruiting class that includes prep standouts, Sawyer Drury (Edwards, Ill.), Sara Finn (Mapleton, Ill.), Lindsey Givens (O'Fallon, Mo.), Izzy Guarriello (Lucas, Texas), Macey Jarose (Omaha, Neb.), Taylor Scott (Rockwall, Texas) and Aly True (Kansas City, Mo.), as well as JUCO All-American Kierra Jungers (Fonda, Iowa) from DMACC for the 2027 season.
"We are thrilled to welcome this class to our program," said Wood. This group brings a rare blend of power, speed, and versatility, along with three arms that can help us in the circle. More importantly, they are competitors who match our culture both on and off the field. They carry themselves with purpose, they elevate the people around them, and they are committed to the same standards we have built our culture on here at Creighton."

"As a left-handed catcher with real pop, she brings a unique offensive weapon and a presence at the plate that can change games. Defensively she brings energy, confidence and leadership while lifting the people up around her. Most importantly, she is a worker. Her effort, her edge, and the way she invests in her craft align perfectly with our culture and championship standards. Sara is a high-impact addition, and we could not be more excited to have her in our program."

- Committed to Creighton in October of 2024.
- A three-time varsity letter winning pitcher/infielder at Brimfield High School in Edwards, Ill.
- Earning Illinois Coaches Association (ICA) First Team All-State honors after recording 269 strikeouts and a 0.57 ERA as a junior.
- Drury's 0.57 ERA ranked seventh-best in the state of Illinois, while her 269 strikeouts was 12th-most in the state in 2025.
- She also garnered Unanimous First Team Prarieland All-Conference and Peoria Journal Star First Team All-Area acclaim after guiding the Indians to a 33-4 overall record and an IHSA Class 2A Sectional championship, where she hit 379 with 47 hits, including nine doubles, six triples, 15 RBI and had 14 stolen bases as a junior.
- Was recognized with Second Team Prarieland All-Conference accolades in 2024 following a standout performance that saw her hit .349 with 17 RBI and record a 1.24 ERA with 131 strikeouts as a sophomore.
- Owned a 1.98 ERA and hit .333 with 23 hits and 15 RBI, earning First Team All-Conference honors as a freshman in 2023.
- Played club softball for the Peoria Sluggers 16U Gold team un the direction of Renee Gass.
- Also played varsity basketball during her freshman and sophomore seasons.
Sara Finn, Catcher/Outfielder, Mapleton, Ill., Illini Bluffs HS
- Committed to Creighton in September of 2024.
- A three-time varsity letterwinner and starter for Illini Bluffs High School in Glasford, Ill.
- In 2025, Finn garnered her third consecutive First Team All-State honor when she hit .526 with 12 doubles and a school record 12 home runs.
- She also collected Unanimous First Team All-Conference and All-District honors, while helping her team to a fourth straight 20-win season.
- As a sophomore, Sara posted a team-best .554 batting average and a 1.193 slugging percentage with 12 homers and 36 RBI on the way to earning Unanimous First Team All-Conference, All-District and All-State acclaim, while guiding Illini Bluffs to a second straight Class 1A Runner-up finish.
- Finn started her career by earning Illinois Coaches Association First Team All-State honors after leading the Tigers to a 25-6 record and a runner-up finish in the IHSA Class 1A State Tournament.
- She also claimed Unanimous First Team All-ICAC and First Team Tomahawk accolades in 2023 when she hit .515 and slugged 1.020 with 51 hits, six doubles, 12 home runs, 45 runs scored and 48 runs batted in.
- Has participated in two Illinois High School All-Star games, earning MVP honors as a junior.
- She enters her senior season as the programs all-time career home run leader with 36 career homers.
- Played club softball for the Peoria Sluggers under the direction of Ashley Beyers and Elaine Heflin.
- Sara also excelled on the golf course in high school, winning three consecutive ICAC Conference championships and finishing third at regionals and fifth in sectionals as a junior. She enters her senior season as the Peoria Journal Star Preseason Player of the Year.
- Was also part of the Illini Bluffs' basketball team that won a regional championship in 2025.

Lindsey Givens, Catcher/Infielder, O'Fallon, Mo., Fort Zumwalt West HS
- Committed to Creighton in December of 2024.
- A three-year starting catcher and letterwinner for Fort Zumwalt West High School in Missouri.
- Led the FZW Jaguars to a 29-6 record and a MSHSAA Class 5 District 3 Runner-up finish as a senior.
- Missed a majority of her junior season with a broken hand but hit .368 with five RBI in limited action.
- Was named to the all-conference first team and all-district second team as a sophomore after posting a team-best .440 batting average and a .680 slugging percentage with 19 RBI.
- Givens also garnered all-conference honors as a freshman where she hit .344 with 31 hits, 24 runs, seven home runs and 29 RBI.
- Played club softball for Iowa Premier Fastpitch under the direction of Greg Dickel.
- Outside of softball, Lindsey has excelled in the classroom, earning High Honors and Academic All-State acclaim three straight seasons.
Izzy Guarriello, Pitcher, Lucas, Texas, Lovejoy HS
- Verbally committed to Creighton in November of 2024.
- A three-year letterwinner in softball at Lovejoy High School in Lucas, Texas.
- Earned Texas High School District 9-5A Co-Pitcher of the Year honors after posting 20 wins with a 2.09 ERA and 290 strikeouts in 170.2 innings of work as a junior.
- Was named the District 13-5A Offensive MVP as a sophomore, guiding the Leopards to the UIL Texas Class 5A Regional Quarterfinal after recording a .402 batting average and an .873 slugging percentage with 11 home runs and 39 runs batted in.
- As a freshman, Guarriello led the Leopards to a bi-district championship, claiming First Team All-District accolades when she hit .315 with 10 home runs and 31 RBI while recording 108 strikeouts in 81.2 innings in the circle.
- She has excelled in the classroom earning Academic All-District recognition all three-years of high school.
- Played club softball for the Texas Hotshots under the direction of Ryan Hooker, where she earned All-Tournament Team and Most Outstanding Player honors at the Alliance Fastpitch Championships.
- Comes from a family full of athletes seven members of her family have played collegiate sports, including her mom, Lena, swimming at Fresno State.
Macey Jarose, Outfielder, Omaha, Neb., Millard North HS
- Committed to Creighton in October of 2024.
- A four-year varsity letterwinner and starter for Millard North High School.
- Led the Mustangs to three consecutive Class A State Runner-up finishes, closing her prep career hitting .461 with 125 hits, 21 doubles, 28 home runs, 100 RBI and 157 runs scored.
- Had 46 hits as a senior, hitting .484 with 10 doubles, 14 home runs and 54 RBI while breaking her own single season runs record with 66 runs scored this fall.
- Was recently named to the 2025 NFCA All-Region Second Team and earned a spot on the NFCA Kaiti Williams Memorial Leadoff Classic All-Tournament Team following her senior season.
- Earned Omaha World Herald and Lincoln Jornal Star Class A First Team recognition as a junior, when she hit a blistering .523 with 65 runs, 57 hits, 35 RBI, 13 home runs and seven doubles for a team went 31-7 and won a District 2 championship.
- Jarose also stole a Millard North single season school record 35 bases, claiming Omaha World Herald All-Nebraska First Team and Lincoln Journal Star Super State First Team honors in 2024.
- Led the Mustangs to a 28-6 record and a District title after recording hitting .322 with 19 hits and 15 runs scored as a sophomore.
- Played club softball for Nebraska Goal 16U – National under the direction of Craig Boyer and Beth Singleton.
- Off the field, Macey has earned NSAA Academic All-State honors while serving on the National Honor Society and helping within her community at the Siena Francis House, Sleep in Heavenly Peace and the Millard United Sports Center.
Taylor Scott, Utility, Rockwall, Texas, Rockwall Heath HS
- Committed to Creighton in November of 2024
- A three-year letterwinner and varsity starter from Rockwall Heath High School in Rockwall, Texas.
- Earned Texas Class 6A First Team All-District honors for a third straight season after setting school records with 50 hits and 20 stolen bases while hitting .442 with 10 triples and 20 RBI as a junior.
- Was also recognized as the Rockwall Heath Defensive Player of the Year in the spring of 2025 when she led the Hawks to the Bi-District Finals and was named to the Lone Star Preps Top Utility Players in the Class of 2026.
- Garnered First Team All-District and RHHS Most Valuable Player acclaim as a sophomore while posting a .488 batting average and a .895 slugging percentage with nine doubles, seven triples and 32 RBI.
- Hit .414 with 36 base hits and 11 RBI, earning First Team All-District accolades as a freshman.
- Played club softball for the Dallas-Fort Worth Titans 18U Buettner under the direction of Matt Buettner.
- Helped her club team to a top 25 finish at the National Premier Girls Fastpitch Premier, earning a spot on the PGF All-American Futures Watchlist in 2024.
- Taylor also excelled in the classroom, claiming Texas Class 6A All-Academic team and an Academic Excellence award three times while staying heavily involved in National Honor Society, Student Council, HOSA, Mu Alpha Theta and multiple organizations in the Rockwall area.
Aly True, Outfielder, Kansas City, Mo., Liberty HS
- Verbally committed to Creighton in January of 2025.
- A three-time letterwinner and varsity starting outfielder for Liberty High School in Kansas City.
- Hit .467 with 35 hits, 15 RBI and 12 stolen bases as a senior for her team that went 27-9 and reached the district semifinals.
- Led the Blue Jays to 24 wins and a conference championship in 2024, nabbing First Team Suburban Silver All-Conference and First Team All-District honors.
- Also garnered Second Team Class 5 All-Region accolades following her junior season when she hit .450 with 45 hits, 21 RBI and 12 stolen bases.
- Led Liberty to the Missouri Class 5 State Tournament as a sophomore after guiding the Blue Jays to Suburban Silver Conference and District 8 titles.
- Was named First Team All-Conference, All-District and All-Region in 2023 after posting a .343 batting average with 37 hits, 13 RBI and a single season program record 28 walks.
- Played club softball for the Kansas City Unity under the direction of Coty Meadows.
- Aly was a three-time Academic All-State recipient and a two-year member of the Liberty High School National Honor Society.
Kierra Jungers, Pitcher, Fonda, Iowa, Newell-Fonda HS, Des Moines Area Community College
- Committed to Creighton in October of 2025.
- A right-handed pitcher, Kierra will come to Creighton after two seasons at DMACC.
- As a freshman, Jungers earned NFCA and NJCAA All-American honors after guiding the Bears to a school record 56 wins and an 11th consecutive NJCAA Division II Softball World Series appearance.
- She also nabbed NFCA NJCAA First Team All-Midwest Region and Region 11 Pitcher of the Year accolades in 2025 after compiling a 25-2 record and a 1.53 ERA with 215 strikeouts in 132.2 innings of work, including nine complete games and three no-hitters.
- A graduate of Newell-Fonda High School in Fonda, Iowa, Kierra was a five-time letterwinner and four-time all-state honoree for the Mustangs.
- Guided the Mustangs to a Class 1A-Region 1 runner-up finish, posting school records with a 0.74 ERA and 258 strikeouts as a senior.
- She recorded a 19-4 overall record in the circle and hit .365 with 24 RBI at the plate to earn First Team All-State, All-District and All-Conference honors.
- Missed a majority of her junior season with an injury, but still tit .414 with 12 hits and 11 runs scored.
- Led Newell-Fonda to the State Quarterfinals and a 36-5 overall record as a sophomore, going 27-5 with 267 strikeouts and a 1.56 ERA in 180 innings of work and collecting First Team All-Conference, All-District and All-State acclaim.
- Guided Newell-Fonda to an Iowa Class 1A State Championship as a freshman, where she posted a 29-3 record with 264 strikeouts and a 1.03 ERA in 190.2 innings pitched.
- She was also named the Class 1A All-Tournament Team Captain in 2021 after collecting 22 strikeouts and allowing just three runs in three state tournament victories.
- Kierra also excelled on the basketball and volleyball courts for the Mustangs, claiming All-Conference honors five-times, All-District acclaim four-times and All-State accolades twice.
- She helped guide Newell-Fonda to four straight state tournament appearances on the basketball court, capturing a Class 1A State Basketball championship as a freshman.
- In addition, Jungers was a three-time Class 1A State Qualifier on the track in the distance medley, 4x200, 4x400 and the 4x800 meter relays.
