Baseball Heads to Kansas for Midweek Contest

Omaha, Neb. -- The Creighton Baseball team heads to a familiar setting in 2023 as the Bluejays play their third game of the season at Hoglund Ballpark on Wednesday. This time, however, Creighton will be the road team against Kansas in a game set to begin at 3:00 p.m.

Scouting the Jayhawks: 8-14
Kansas got off to a fast start this season, opening the season 5-1. The Jayhawks fortunes, however, have changed as Kansas has dropped 10 of its last 11 games.
Wednesday will be Kansas' second home game of the season. The Jayhawks won their home opener over Wichita State, 4-0, on March 8.
Kansas enters the game with the Bluejays batting .260 as a team, led by Chase Jans at .319. On the mound the Jayhawks have a team ERA of 6.13, with Wedneday starter Karter Muck sporting a 12.60 ERA over five innings this season.

Creighton is looking to play a full four-game week for the first time in 2023 as the Bluejays have a road contest at Kansas on Wednesday and a three-game set with St. Thomas.
The Bluejays won two of three games last week, earning a victory over Nebraska (6-5) on Tuesday and splitting a weekend pair with Minnesota.
Creighton enters Wednesday's contest hitting .250 as a team, including Nolan Clifford's team-high .328 and Nolan Sailors at .314. On the mound the Bluejays have a 5.52 ERA and will send veteran Dominic Cancellieri (4.50 ERA) to the bump.
Is Hoglund the Jayhawks' Home or Is It the Bluejays' Home
While Kansas will hit last on Wednesday, it will be the third game in Hoglund Ballpark for Creighton this season. Kansas meanwhile will be playing its second game of the 2023 season at Hoglund.
Creighton moved its series with BYU on March 10-11 to Hoglund due to severe weather conditions in Omaha.
Windham Flirted with History Against Golden Gophers
Bluejay ace Ryan Windham took a perfect game into the seventh inning on Friday, March 24. Windham retired the first 19 Golden Gophers of the contest, before ultimately allowing a pair of runs in Creighton's 5-2 victory over Minnesota.
Clifford Goes For Bakers' Dozen
Twice during the 2023 season a Bluejay has been stymied at 12 for a reached base streak as Ben North and Nolan Sailors saw 12-game streaks halted. Sailors was twice as painful as his was a 12-game hitting streak. Junior Nolan Clifford enters the game at Kansas with a 12-game reached base streak.
