Awards show recognizes some of top performances and moments over the previous 12 months
OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton Athletics celebrated its top individual and team accomplishments from the past year on Monday night with the fifth edition of The Billy's.
The event featured 28 awards, including 14 True Blue Awards that helped recognize one student-athlete from each squad who embodied the values of resiliency, high character, selflessness, humility, discipline, dedication, determination, reliability, culture and a team-first attitude.
CU also recognized the Female and Male Rookie of the Year (Women's Golf's Katherine Lemke and Baseball's Hogan Helligso), Female and Male Comeback Kid (Women's Basketball's Rachael Saunders and Men's Soccer's Callum Watson) and Female and Male Muscle & Hustle Award (Rowing's Becca Meyer and Men's Soccer's Luke Mitchell).
Lauren Jensen (Women's Basketball) was named Female Athlete of the Year and Duncan McGuire (Men's Soccer) brought home Male Athlete of the Year accolades.
The Carl M. Reinert, S.J., Female and Male Scholar-Athletes of the Year were recognized, as well, with those awards going to Danielle Hotalling (Women's Cross Country) and Ryan Kalkbrenner (Men's Basketball).
The Billy's also saw three team awards get handed out. The top team GPA's on both the men's and women's sides earned the Team Academic Awards, with the Cross Country programs taking home both honors. Rowing won the Magis Award, and the men's soccer program was recognized as Team of the Year.
Awards for The Billy's are based on the past 12 months. The Billy's honor the accomplishments of Creighton's 2022 teams in baseball, golf, rowing, softball and tennis, in addition to the 2022-23 accomplishments for basketball, cross country, soccer and volleyball.
Each program also had a winner of the True Blue Award, with winners listed below.
