Bluejay Baseball Drops Series Opener at Seton Hall, 7-0

South Orange, N.J. -- Creighton Baseball suffered a 7-0 loss in the series opening game with Seton Hall on Friday, May 12.
The loss moved Creighton to 23-20 on the season and 9-7 in BIG EAST play. Seton Hall, meanwhile, climbed to and 8-8 in league action.
Seton Hall jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second as Jedier Hernandez and Zack Slyvester delivered RBI doubles.
The Pirates pushed their lead to 4-0 in the fourth on a solo home run from Staus Pokrovsky and added their final four runs on a sac fly, two via wild pitches and one on a balk.
Creighton's best chance to score came in the fifth as junior Nolan Clifford blasted a one-out triple to right, but was doubled up as sophomore Hogan Helligso flied into a double play to close the frame.
Clifford notched two of Creighton's five hits in the contest.
Bluejay starter Dominic Cancellieri took the loss (2-3), allowing seven runs on 11 hits in 5.1 innings. Seton Hall starter Nick Payero earned the win (4-2) with 7.1 innings of scoreless ball, limiting Creighton to four hits and striking out seven.
The Bluejays and Pirates are back in action on Saturday, May 13 at 1:00 p.m. (CT)
