OMAHA, Neb. --Â Creighton women's golfers Katie Allen, Eleanor Hudepohl, Katherine Lemke and Gabby Tremblay each earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team honors on Tuesday, May 23.Â
Â
The 2023 Academic All District ® Women's At-Large Team, selected by CSC, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for the combined performances on the course and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America ® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions. NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division II and NAIA. Sports eligible for women's at-large program consideration include beach volleyball, bowling, crew/rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing and water polo.
This is the first recognition from College Sports Communicators for each woman, as Creighton had not had a women's golfer named Academic All-District since Maggy Hejlek in 2009-10.
Allen owned a 77.09 scoring average in 33 rounds as a senior. The Phoenix, Ariz., product is one of three Bluejay women with multiple rounds of 70 or lower in the last 20 seasons, and during that same time frame she leads all Creighton players in rounds played (118), top-10 finishes (13) and top-20 finishes (22). Allen, who won the Loyola Fall Invitational in 2019, also made a hole-in-one earlier this season. She is a Finance/Economics major.
Hudepohl led Creighton with a 75.17 scoring average in 2022-23, including five rounds of par or lower. She won the Big O Classic and Motor City Classic and earned All-BIG EAST honors earlier this month. Hudepohl finished 13th or better in 9-of-10 events, including her final eight competitions, which included five top-five finishes. Hudepohl has not officially declared a major, but the Cincinnati, Ohio, native is part of CU's Honors program.
Lemke became the first player in league history to win medalist honors at back-to-back BIG EAST Women's Golf Championships, earning the sophomore from Geneva, Ill., a second straight trip to the NCAA Regionals. Lemke owned five rounds of par or lower, including a league and school-record 67 at the BIG EAST Championships. Lemke is a Physics & Math major with a minor in Computer Science.
Tremblay owned a 78.48 scoring average while playing in nine events during the recently-completed season. She had two top-10 finishes in 2022-23 and tied for 13th place at the BIG EAST Championships in 2023 after finishing as runner-up in the event in 2021. The Hayward, Wis., product is a Philosophy and History major and graduated 10 days ago.
All four women will now be listed on the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Those honorees will be announced on June 22nd.
