Lemke Becomes First CU Golfer To Earn Academic All-America Honors

Two-time BIG EAST champ owns 4.00 GPA in the classroom too
OMAHA, Neb. -- Katherine Lemke has been selected a Third Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators. She is the first Creighton golfer -- men's or women's -- to ever be honored as an Academic All-American.

The 2023 Academic All-American ® Women's At-Large Team, selected by CSC members, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for the combined performances on the course and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America ® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions. NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division II and NAIA. Sports eligible for women's at-large program consideration include beach volleyball, bowling, crew/rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing and water polo.
A total of 49 individuals were recognized, with the 16 members of the first team showing a 3.95 cumulative GPA. Lemke was one of a total of 26 honorees that had perfect 4.00 GPAs, including 10 who were named to the first team.
In 2022-23 Lemke became the first player in league history to win medalist honors at back-to-back BIG EAST Women's Golf Championships, earning the sophomore from Geneva, Ill., a second straight trip to the NCAA Regionals. Lemke owned five rounds of par or lower, including a league and school-record 67 at the BIG EAST Championships. Lemke is a Physics & Math major with a minor in Computer Science. In late May Lemke announced she would be transferring to Virginia Tech.
After not having any Academic All-District selections in the CU women's golf program since Maggy Hejlek in 2009-10, Lemke along with teammates Katie Allen, Eleanor Hudepohl and Gabby Tremblay were all honored in May. The Bluejays are coached by Debbie Conry.
Including Lemke, Creighton has now had 47 student-athletes earn a combined 57 Academic All-America awards across all sports, including 20 women who have combined for 25 accolades.
