Men's Basketball Tops Lithuanian Squad, 76-62, in Bahamas

Trey Alexander led Creighton with 29 points
NASSAU, Bahamas -- Trey Alexander had 29 points to lead the Creighton men's basketball team to a 76-62 win over BC Kaunas Zalgiris on Sunday morning inside the Imperial Ballroom at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas.
The victory was Creighton's second in as many games during its three-game exhibition slate in the Bahamas, with the final game coming on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. Central.
The Bluejays trailed most of the first half before rallying to even the score at 39 heading into the intermission. The Jays outscored their Lithuanian counterparts 19-8 in the third quarter to pull away for the win.
Alexander made 13-of-14 shots at the line and also grabbed eight rebounds while dishing half of CU's 10 assists. Scoring 10 points each were Fredrick King, Ryan Kalkbrenner and Steven Ashworth. Kalkbrenner also swatted five shots, while redshirt freshman Jasen Green swiped a pair of steals.
After making 16 three-pointers on Sunday, the Bluejays shot just 5-of-26 from deep. Creighton won the rebound battle 42-31 and blocked eight shots. Creighton outscored Zalgiris 23-8 in transition and 21-8 in second-chance points for the game.
Twin brothers Dominykas and Dovydas Butka led BC Kaunas Zalgiris. Dominykas had 13 points and three assists, while Dovydas contributed nine points and 10 rebounds. The Lithuanian squad, which had players ranging from 16-to-20 years old, made 14-of-28 free throws and had five players finish the game with four or more fouls.
Creighton takes the floor for the final time in the Bahamas on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Central when it takes on Club Obras Argentina.
