Men's Soccer Drops Home Opener to Grand Canyon, 2-1

Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton Men's Soccer suffered a 2-1 loss to Grand Canyon in its home opener on Friday, September 1st. The loss moved Creighton to 0-2-1, while GCU moved to 1-2-0.
The Lopes took a 1-0 lead late in the first half as Lucas Fecci headed in a pass from Clayton Duarte in the 40th minute.
Creighton answered in the 54th minute as Jackson Castro glanced a corner kick off the head off a GCU defender into the back of the net to knot the match at 1-1.
Grand Canyon, however, delivered the game winning goal in the 72nd minute when Bright Nutornutsi finished a centered pass from Cameron Cruz in the 72nd minute of play.
Creighton outshot GCU 18-12 in the match and created 13 corners to just three by the Lopes.
The Bluejays return to action on Monday, September 4th as Creighton faces Denver in a road match at 8:00 p.m.
