Daijima Runs Into Roadblock Ending Stay at the ITA Central Regional

TULSA, Okla. – Junior Yuma Daijima had his run in the Main Singles Draw come to an end in the Round of 32, while senior Alejandro Gandini and juniors Kirtan Patel and Zachary Kuo claimed a trio of Singles Consolation Draw wins during the third day of action at the ITA Central Regional in Tulsa, Okla.
After grinding his way through the Main Draw Qualifier on Wednesday and a tight first round win on Thursday, Daijima ended his stay in the Main Singles Draw Round of 32 on Friday afternoon following a 6-5, 7-6 (7-0) loss to Oklahoma's Bruno Nhavene.
In the Singles Consolation Draws, Gandini battled back from a one set deficit to take down Nebraska's Colson Wells in a three-set thriller, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-4.
Patel quickly claimed a 6-3, 6-1 victory over North Dakota's Jerall Yasin in his first singles consolation draw match, while Kuo edged Oral Roberts' Ricardo Filho in a tight 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 three-set win.
Friday's action concluded Creighton's fall portion of the schedule. They Bluejays will return to action for the dual season beginning in late January.
