
Men’s Tennis Beings Fall Season with Six Wins at Augustana Invite

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Creighton men's tennis team opened the 2025 fall season with six victories during the first day of competition at the Augustana Invite on Saturday afternoon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Senior Yuma Daijima led the way for the Bluejays, advancing to the Flight A Main Draw Final on Sunday. Daijima opened the day by rallying from a one-set deficit to defeat Augustana's Jose Antonia Velasco, 1-6, 6-1, 10-7, before cruising to a 6-3, 6-3 win over Omaha Bryan Kuntz in the semifinals.
Freshman Jack MaMahon, meanwhile, capped off a strong collegiate debut with a pair of singles wins, advancing to the finals of Flight E. The Ireland native picked up the first win of her career as he took Gustavus Adolphus' Ali Derbani 6-4, 6-3 in the flight quarterfinals. He then rolled through Augustana's Drew Gohl in straight sets (6-4, 6-0) in the semifinals.
After dropping his opening round match in Flight A, freshman Jasper Camehn responded with an 8-3 win over Omaha's Kaden Taylor in the consolation semifinals for his first win as a Bluejay.
Freshman Mathis Dahler followed suit, earning his first collegiate win in the Flight B quarterfinals with an 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 10-6 three-set win over Nebraska-Kearney's Yarona Morule.
The Bluejays will wrap up their stay in Sioux Falls with the conclusion of the Augustana Invite on Sunday.
