
Softball Announces Signing Class of Eight for 2026 Season

OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton Softball head coach Krista Wood announced the signing of eight recruits to the Bluejay program for the spring of 2026 on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
Joining the Bluejays next fall will be Emma Bailey (Lafayette, La.), Ava Drehs (Naperville, Ill.), Audrey Gilman (Kampsville, Ill.), Zoey Greenwood (New Boston, Texas), Aubriella Martinez (Lantana, Texas), Keegan Mayhue (Elm Mott, Texas), Karina Trevino (Robstown, Texas) and Angelina Vazquez (Chicago, Ill.).
"This signing class is a powerhouse, blending speed, explosive power at the plate, dominant pitching and rock-solid defense," said Wood. "They're built to compete at the highest level and bring game-changing impact in every aspect."

Emma Bailey, Outfield, Lafayette, La., St. Thomas More Catholic HS
- A three-year letterwinner at St. Thomas More Catholic High School in Lafayette, Louisiana.
- Earned LSWA and LSCA First Team All-State honors after leading the Cougars to their third consecutive Class 4A District 4 Regional Championship and a berth in the state semifinals with a 34-4-1 record as a junior.
- Was also named to the all-district and all-metro first team in 2024 after posting a .552 batting average with 64 hits, 46 runs and 20 RBI, while setting a new program record with 25 stolen bases.
- Led St. Thomas More to a 39-3 record and a LHSAA Class 4A State Championship as a sophomore.
- Hit .500 and posted a .533 on-base percentage with 26 RBI, 18 stolen bases and 26 RBI, while earning Class 4A District 4 and All-Metro First Team honors.
- Bailey garnered Class 4A LHSAA First Team All-State and All-District acclaim as a freshman while guiding the Cougars to a Class 4A State Semifinals appearance.
- Finished her first year of varsity softball hitting .473 with 35 hits, 22 stolen bases and 16 RBI.
- Has only struck out one time in 338 plate appearances over three seasons of varsity softball.
- Bailey also played club softball for the Strykers and was coach by Charlie Esparza.
- Outside of softball, Emma excelled in the classroom, earning All-Acadiana honors as a freshman and junior.
- Father, Bret Bailey, played baseball for the University of Louisiana Lafayette from 1998-2001, playing in the Men's College World Series with ULL in 2000.
Ava Drehs, Pitcher, Naperville, Ill, Neuqua Valley HS
- A two-time varsity letter winning pitcher at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Ill.
- Ranked 11th in the Midwest Extra Innings Class of 2025 National Honor Roll Select Achiever.
- Ranked 54th in the Class of 2025 Extra Inning Softball Extra Elite Top 11 Pitchers.
- Earned Illinois Coaches Association Class 4A Second Team All-State honors after recording a 2.33 ERA as a junior,
- Garnered Naperville Sun and Daily Herald All-Area First Team accolades following junior year when she set a new Neuqua Valley single season school record with 234 strikeouts.
- Was also named the 2024 DuPage Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year after posting a 1.64 ERA during conference play.
- A two-time unanimous DuPage Valley All-Conference selection, Drehs guided the Wildcats to the DuPage Valley League Title as a sophomore while recording 143 strikeouts and a 2.69 ERA.
- Also played club softball for Sparks Softball and was coached by Joe Tholl and Jill Harvey.
- In the classroom, Ava earned academic all-conference recognition in each of her sophomore and junior seasons.
Audrey Gilman, Pitcher, Kampsville, Ill., Calhoun HS
- A pitcher and a three-time letterwinner for Calhoun High School in Hardin, Ill.
- Guided the Warriors to a 27-7-1 overall record and a G4 Sectional Championship, as well as a State Quarterfinals appearance during her junior year.
- Earned Class 1A First Team All-State honors after recording 280 strikeouts and a 0.92 ERA as a junior.
- Gilman's 280 strikeouts in 2024 ranked eighth-most in the state of Illinois, while her 0.92 ERA was 13th-best in the state.
- She also garnered First Team All-Western Illinois Valley Conference accolades in 2024 after posting a .468 batting average with 10 doubles, 33 RBI and 34 runs scored.
- Led the entire state of Illinois with 381 strikeouts as a sophomore.
- Owned a 1.09 ERA and hit .429 with 51 hits and 32 RBI, earning First Team All-Conference and Class 1A Second Team All-State honors while guiding the Warriors to a second consecutive regional championship as a sophomore.
- Helped Calhoun to a regional title, a G4 Sectional Championship and a State Tournament Quarterfinals appearance in 2022, finishing her freshman season with a 1.71 ERA and 248 strikeouts.
- Was named Second Team All-State and First Team All-Conference after recording a .427 batting average with 50 hits, 13 doubles, 39 RBI and 43 runs as a freshman.
- Also helped lead the Illinois Tri-County softball team to the Little League Senior League Softball World Series in both 2023 and 2024.
- Gilman threw a one-hit shutout with 16 strikeouts in the teams 11-0 win over South Carolina in the 2024 LLSLWS Championship game.
- Audrey also excelled on the basketball court, earning First Team All-Conference honors as a sophomore and junior.
Zoey Greenwood, Outfield, New Boston, Texas, Hooks HS
- A three-year starting outfielder and letterwinner from Hooks High School in New Boston, Texas.
- Earned TSWA Class 3A Third Team All-State honors after guiding the Hornets to a 26-7-1 overall record.
- Was named District 14-3A Offensive Player of the Year as a junior after recording a .528 batting average with a .854 slugging percentage on 14 doubles, six triples and two home runs.
- Also earned First Team All-District honors in 2024 after leading Hooks HS to a District 14-3A and Bi-District championship.
- Led the Hornets to a Class 3A District 14 Runner-up finish and a 27-9 overall record after posting a .490 batting average and a .816 slugging percentage with nine doubles, five triples and six home runs as a sophomore.
- In addition, Zoey earned First Team All-District 14-3A honors and earned TSWA Class 3A Outfield All-State recognition following sophomore season.
- Hit .445 and posted a .767 slugging percentage with seven doubles, three triples and four home runs, earned First Team All-District and District Player of the Year honors as a freshman.
- Led Hooks as a freshman to a 22-5 record and a Class 3A Bi-District championship and a District 14 Runner-up finished.
- Greenwood played club softball for the Texas Bombers Academy, under the direction of Adrian Rodriguez.
- Off the field, Greenwood excelled in the classroom earned Academic All-District honors three times, while claiming a spot on the Hooks HS All-A's honor roll each of her first three years.
- In addition, Zoey also excelled on the track claiming a district championship in the 200-meter dash as a sophomore.
Aubriella Martinez, Infielder, Lantana, Texas, Denton Guyer HS
- A four-time softball letterwinner at Denton Guyer High School in Texas.
- Earned Class 6A-1 Honorable Mention All-District honor as a junior after leading the Wildcats to a 37-5 record and a runner-up finish at the TSWA Class A State Tournament.
- Recorded a .990 fielding percentage and hit over .425 at the plate with more than 20 RBI while guiding Denton Guyer to a No. 2 state ranking and a third straight district championship and a second consecutive Bi-District and Regional Championship as a junior.
- Led the Wildcats to a 38-2 overall record and the Class 6A State Title game while claiming All-Area honors from the Denton Record-Chronicle as a sophomore.
- Martinez played club softball for the Texas Hotshots Naudin under the direction of Jon Erik Villegas.
- Prior to joining the Hotshots, Martinez was named the MVP at the USSSA National Championship with Texas Flory Adkins in 2017 and 2019.
- Off the field, Aubriella has earned academic all-state and academic honor roll acclaim while serving within her community at the Red Cross, the Apollo Humane Society and at local church youth groups.
Keegan Mayhue, Infielder, Elm Mott, Texas, West HS
- A three-time letterwinner and varsity starting shortstop from West High School in Elm Mott, Texas.
- Guided the Trojans to the District 17-3A runner-up finish with 21 victories during her junior season.
- In 2024, Mayhue earned Third Team Blue Bell/TSWA All-State honors and was named the District 17 Most Valuable Player after posting a .488 batting average with 41 hits, including 11 double, 16 home runs and 46 RBI.
- Was also named to the Super Centex Softball First Team following her junior season.
- As a sophomore, Keegan posted a team-best .593 batting average and a 1.148 slugging percentage on the way to earning District 17-3A Catcher of the Year and Second Team Blue Bell/TSWA All-State recognition.
- She recorded 64 hits, including 24 doubles, nine triples and six home runs, while driving in 53 runs to earn a spot on the Super Centex Softball First Team as a sophomore.
- Keegan started her career by earned First Team All-District 17 honor after leading the West High School to the District 17-3A Quarterfinals.
- Mayhue also excelled on the volleyball court in high school, earning First Team All-District and Honorable Mention Blue Bell TSWA All-State honors as a middle blocker in 2023.
- She teamed up with fellow Bluejay Aubriella Martinez and played club softball for the Texas Hotshots Naudin under the direction of Jon Erik Villegas.
- Keegan is a three-time Academic All-District honoree for softball, a two-time honoree in volleyball and is a 2024 inductee to the National Honor Society.
- She comes from a long line of athletes in her family, as her mother, Kylee, and her aunts, Kristi Patterson and Kasey Short, all played collegiate soccer.
Karina Trevino, Infielder, Robstown, Texas, Robstown Early College HS
- A three-year starting shortstop for Robstown Early College High School in Robstown, Texas.
- Was selected as one of the top shortstops in the state of Texas for the Class of 2025 by LoneStarPreps.
- Earned Class4A-31 First Team All-District honors for a third straight year after leading the Pickers to 21 victories as a junior.
- Was also named the District 31 Defensive Player of the Year in 2024 while recording a .579 batting average with 54 hits, including 20 doubles, four triples, eight home runs, 34 RBI and 57 runs scored.
- Trevino established a new Robstown Early College school record with 20 career home runs in her first three season with the Pickers.
- Garnered First Team All-District 31 honors as a sophomore, while posting a .440 batting average with 40 hits, 31 RBI, 13 doubles, six home runs and 18 stolen bases.
- In addition to her success at the plate, Trevino also excelled in the circle, posting a 9-1 record with a 2.28 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 46 innings of work.
- Hit .581 with 36 base hits and 21 RBI, earning First Team All-District accolades as a freshman.
- Trevino played club softball for the Texas Hotshots under the direction of Ryan Hooker.
- Off the field, Karina played three years of volleyball, earning a spot on the District 31-4A Academic All-District Team each season.
- Trevino is heavily involved in the student council, National Honor Society and FFA (Future Farmers of America).
Chiqui Vazquez, Infielder, Chicago, Ill., Whitney M. Young Magnet HS
- A four-year varsity letterwinner from Whitney M. Young Magnet High School in Chicago, Ill.
- Played in the Premier Girls Fastpitch Futures All-American Game this past summer after a solid junior high school and club season.
- Earned Class 4A Second Team All-State honors after guiding the Dolphins to a 28-12 overall record and a City, Regional and Sectional championship as well as a Quarterfinals appearance at the Illinois Class 4A State Tournament as a junior.
- Led her team with a .421 batting average while driving in 39 runs on 12 doubles, six triples and three home runs to earn CPL First Team All-City honors as a junior.
- Hit .396 with 36 hits, six doubles, 19 RBI and 30 runs scored while leading the Dolphins to 20 a third straight 20-win season as a sophomore.
- Took Whitney M. Young Magnet High School to the Quarterfinals of the Class 4A Illinois State Tournament after guiding the Dolphins to a 26-3 record and a City, Regional and Sectional Title.
- Played club softball for the Chicago Cheetahs under the direction of Mary Connolly.
- Hit .373 with 39 runs scored and 29 stolen bases during the 2024 summer club season.
- Also recorded a .446 batting average and a .723 slugging percentage with 38 runs scored, 21 RBI and 27 stolen bases during the fall of 2023.
