Women's Golf Opens Spring Season With Top-10 Finish

Eleanor Hudepohl and Annika Yturralde place among top 25
LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. -- The Creighton women's golf team opened its spring season with a tie for ninth place at the BGSU Women's Intercollegiate. The tournament was held at Wigwam Golf Course in Litchfield Park, Ariz., which had a par 71 layout on a course measuring 6,058 yards.
Eleanor Hudepohl (76-78-78=232) and Annika Yturralde (79-75-79=233) both earned top 25 finishes. Hudepohl tied for 21st place and Yturralde tied for 23rd.
Annie Dawson tied for 43rd after scores of 80, 82 and 78 for a 240 aggregate, while freshman classmates Katharine Marshall (81-81-81=243) and Abby Aeschleman (84-79-80) both tied for 51st place after a 243 total.
Playing as an individual and not factoring into CU's score was Karsen Morrison (81-85-79=245), which was good for a 57th place showing.
Grand Canyon topped the 14-team field with an 896 total after rounds of 294, 299 and 303, defeating runner-up Idaho (302-297-302=901) by five shots. Sharing medalist honors in the 78-player field were Idaho's Zoe Newell (71-74-73=218) and Abilene Christian's Delaney Martin (71-73-74=218). Fellow BIG EAST school Butler placed 11th (951) and was led by a tie for 11th place from Kelli Scheck (228).
The Bluejays are back in action next Monday and Tuesday at the Islander Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas.
