Softball Drops Series Finale at St. John’s

QUEENS, N.Y. – The Creighton softball team fell 10-0 to St. John's during the series finale on Saturday afternoon at Red Storm Field in Queens, N.Y.
The loss drops the Bluejays to 13-8 on the season and 2-1 in BIG EAST play, while St. John's improved to 9-12 overall and 1-2 in league action with the victory.
The host Red Storm put the first dent on the scoreboard, plating two runs in the bottom of the second innings to take a 2-0 lead. Using a hit batter, a walk and a bunt single by Jess Bianco, before London Jarrard drew a walk to push in the first run of the game. Following a Bluejays pitching change, Cassidy Stouffer drove in another run with a sacrifice fly to deep left to give the Red Storm a 2-0 lead.
St. John's would then add eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on six hits and three walks, including a grand slam home run by Elanna Lysiak.
Freshman Sydney Potter collected the Bluejays lone hit in the contest, while freshman Brooklyn Patchen suffered her second loss of the season in the circle.
After opening the season with 21 straight games away from home, the Bluejays are set to open the home portion of their schedule on Wednesday, March 13 when they take on Rider in a doubleheader. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Creighton Sports Complex.
